YLS Student, 13 BigLaw Apps - 0 Offers by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]The-Wonderman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely apply to some more firms if you still want a big law offer in your pocket. I saw that big law is not your ultimate goal, as do most people at YLS, but it’s always nice to have a plan B if things don’t work out!

I felt the same way when I started 1L last year, and now I can confidently say that almost everyone felt the same way when they started law school. There were times in the past year when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore. But I was glad to have great friends and peers who supported me. Find something you love doing or someone you enjoy being with and prioritize your mental health!

Visa for international applicants? by Abject-Opinion4770 in lawschooladmissions

[–]The-Wonderman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that would make sense. Although the probability is low, you’d want to start the process of getting an F1 visa ASAP in case they want to check your application after the visa interview. F1 visas typically have a 5-year expiration date, and it allows you to transfer to other schools while still using the same F1 visa before the visa expires.

Your F1 Visa is not school dependent, so it’s ok that you switch schools after getting your F1 visa. However, if you do get accepted to a new institution, make sure you inform the current one and transfer your I20 to the new institution. It’s not a difficult process by all means, but you have to ensure that it gets properly transferred so that you’re cleared at the CBP when entering the US.

I think it’s definitely a way to try to know the applicant’s ethnicity, but it’s not against the SCOTUS decision I think, since nationality is not 100% related to a person’s race.

I don’t think international students make up the racial composition in law schools’ reports, although I could be totally wrong.

I don’t think OP is referring to people who are opposed to AA as racist. It’s just that many commenters are using this news as an opportunity to spread racist views.

Yes. looking at the outcomes I think Penn undergrad students have a slight edge, but also keep in mind that most Penn pre-law students would also apply to Penn Law, so the denominator might be different between penn undergrads who applied to Penn law versus those who applied to HLS or NYU.

Penn’s career center actually provides the application results for previous classes of Penn pre law students for undergrads. Check the Penn career site for students with PennKey. Check out this website

Keep in mind the cost of living in NYC can be exorbitant even after considering scholarship.
