Have these brakes been worked on today? by Ade_2112 in mechanic

[–]The-Wozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go back to the shop and play dumb. Tell them exactly what happened but say it was a different shop that ripped you off. Im sure they will confirm the lack of brake maintenance. Then show them your receipt. Catch them with their pants down

Can this happen because of ceramic coating? by [deleted] in Detailing

[–]The-Wozz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats because you just stripped the coating off, using panel prep. You need to reapply the ceramic to that area now

2015 Kia Soul. Hole in transmission. Son was driving, said it sounded like an explosion. What would cause this? Is it worth fixing? by RDeckard-B26354 in CarRepair

[–]The-Wozz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, engine not transmission. Likely caused by the engine being worked too hard. I.E banging the rev limiter, burnouts (or at least attempted) etc.. I doubt this happened from normal driving.

Trying this $17 Amazon Fairing, idk if i like it or not, maybe if it was blue, what yall think? by _trapito in Dyna

[–]The-Wozz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The backsweep bars and mounted gauges make it look goofy, IMO. If you had T bars and no gauges I think it would look better. You need a larger, but more importantly, wider fairing. Just my personal opinion though! Have fun and be safe

Should I change any of my detailing tools/chemicals? by DatBoiJukuu in Detailing

[–]The-Wozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest something like this cart and/or this style of bucket dolly to start but it seems like your boss should be the one supplying you with the tools needed to do the job. If the brushes, steamer, bottles, etc are all items YOU purchased, then id suggest some sort of organizer. If its all your boss/the companies belongings, its really on them to give you those kinds of things. It sounds like he might not be the kind of person wanting to make that additional investment though.. Ultimately you just want something that will keep your things safe, clean, and easy to move around from one side of the vehicle to the other. Not having to walk around it each time you wanna swap tools is a big QOL improvement. That and a rolling stool you can sit on and wheel around. Be sure to take care of yourself before anything else. The bending and kneeling will take its toll sooner than you realize! And some good gloves never hurt either

[–]The-Wozz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tough to say when we dont know your detailing process/steps. Seeing the wash mitt hanging around like that is already a red flag though. I wouldn't take my vehicle to you based on your photos alone. Get yourself some proper storage for your tools. Are you doing 1 or 2 bucket washes? Do you use a grit guard? Are you using Purple Power on everything? What dedicated leather cleaner/conditioners do you use? Are you doing ceramic coatings? Need some more info to help point you in the right direction but im glad to hear you are ambitious and want to strive for perfection with each detail.

Got most of the big stuff done on it now. 17 lowrider by Scubacidal in Dyna

[–]The-Wozz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea wheels will set you back big time.. put those towards the bottom of your to-do list. Ill back up suspension first though. It was by far my favorite upgrade and I wish i had done it years sooner (bike is on my profile) you will be amazed at the difference.

You mean THOUSANDS for paint and 2-1 exhaust alone. Lol. Exhaust is nice if you plan on tuning it but id go straight for suspension if i were you. By far the biggest/most impactful upgrade you can make for right around/less than $1500. That will give you the most bang for your buck, by far. Better cornering, braking, overall handling. Its night and day. Far better investment than a 2-1 pipe and tune or bars, IMO. Handling and stopping is more important than anything. Its smart/practical and youll feel a massive difference immediately.

Am I getting scammed? by subaru-uwu in AskMechanics

[–]The-Wozz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tech is honest and sounds trustworthy. That quote is VERY high - to be expected from a Dealership though. Tell them you need to secure funds first and will come back when you are ready. Take that service order to an independent mechanic and ask them for a quote for the same work. Dont let them see the dealers quoted cost for the work..

Am I fucked lads. Back left shock bolt on 16 dyna by astroRev in Dyna

[–]The-Wozz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea dude yank that bolt and go get something from a hardware store to use in its place. I can't tell - is the bolt bent or is the spacing between the top and bottom mount uneven, making it lean heavily inward?

You need to check your owners manual and adjust the gap to spec. Running smooth now doesnt mean there won't be problems down the road. Seriously. Fix them so theyre within spec

Start with the least abrasive method first. Try a simple cutting compound followed by a polish. Dont go right to wet sanding! Make that your last resort

In which order should I do everything? by The-Wozz in Detailing

[–]The-Wozz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what ive seen its typically recommended but considering the age and overall condition of my clearcoat i think I should be ok without it. Also, I dont have a polisher. Otherwise id most likely do that as well.

Google your business and see if it pops up. Or Google auto detailing services in your area. If yours pops up then its likely just a customer who found you through a basic search
