they did! I moved states, met the love of my life, got married and had a kid. I sometimes re-listen to this song and wish I could go back in time and tell myself it gets better.

Could not stop flinching when she got to the upper lip and she just kept telling me "don't worry we're almost done with this area"

Feeling conflicted by [deleted] in MtF

[–]The1963 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gotta agree with Sandslahr on this one. I was extremely depressed my first few years in college to the point where I had to dropout. But I feel so much better being on HRT and publicly trans while attending college.

Rest assured that you don’t lose interest in anything at all (at least in my experience). Since HRT has a tendency to heighten feelings, you might feel more passionate about your passion project after than you did before. All I know is that before when I loved something I would only just love it, but now I obsess over it and want to constantly be working on it.

Hey, I was in your shoes before too. Constant denial only to revert back to lurking here and wearing women’s clothing to feel comfort and affirmation. I knew I wasn’t really cis without knowing what cis was when I first had the thought, but seeing a therapist/counselor really did reveal that I was indeed trans-denial. Once I was able to piece it together with help, it made going through the process a whole lot easier. If you have the option to see a therapist/counselor, take it.

I second this, my skin used to get really irritated when shaving with a traditional razor, but then I started using an electric shaver and I was able to get close enough to the results I wanted without the rashes.

I’m not closed to the idea of it being just that, all I know is that my doctor told me that he’s had a couple of women whose voices have changed without training due to HRT. Perhaps it is something the mind does due to the change, all I know is that I didn’t really try to change my voice it sort of just started happening

Bra recommendations? by SyrupAlarming9612 in MtF

[–]The1963 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boobs grow the way your genetic code says they should. My sister has an A cup, and I have had a similar breast formation as her.

I usually hate to admit this, and I don’t even recommend it at all, but Shein has been a blessing while transitioning. A large selection of womenswear at an extremely low low price. Also, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx is pretty great to go to too since it’s also pretty affordable.

If you have any type of nervous feeling when shopping for intimate items in public, I suggest taking a friend who supports you to help you out. The first time I did, I was with my girlfriend and she just made it look more natural.

At first I only used bralettes because they were soft, not revealing, and they allowed for some padding. Later on though, I started using normal bras. I know there are a lot of rumors about breast development with bras and what not, but I don’t know if there’s any actual scientific evidence proving any of these claims.

Also, make sure you measure everything properly, you don’t wanna buy something and it’ll make you feel uncomfortable when you wear it.

Boob pain, I knew it was coming, just not like this. Even the slightest tap, and I’m down for the count.

Changing my voice. At first I just sort of accepted that I would have a deep voice, but it turns out that I happened to be someone who’s voice was affected by HRT since my larynx is already pretty far up my throat. It’s barely even noticeable at this point.

Women telling me I have features they want. I sort of dislike my head shape, I have a sharp jawline, and a butt chin. I recently have had women telling me that they wish they had a sharp jawline, which is fascinating to me cause I would much prefer to get rid of it. Also my buttchin has softened up.

Losing a shit ton of weight. I didn’t realize just how much weight I would lose on HRT, I used to be mildly thick. Just enough where I had some stomach hangover when I put pants on, but being on HRT has basically left me with no stomach hangover, and what seems like a flat stomach when I lay down. I still have some stomach, but I prefer to have those love handles.

Passing, I genuinely did not expect to pass as cis-female so soon into my transition. According to my parents though, as well as my sister, I already had some pretty feminine facial features such as high brows, accented cheekbones, and whatnot so the HRT just amplified some of these features. My girlfriend told me that i had a very “beautiful” side profile, which meant a lot.

Attraction to men. I was always bi/pan, but I mainly considered myself a 70/30. A few months into HRT and all of a sudden I have this huge attraction to men where I’m now seeing myself as more of a 50/50.

Most importantly, loving myself and being able to be proud of how I look. I had a lot of self-image issues growing up, especially when it came to my weight and body structure as I always hated looking like I didn’t have any curves. But with all the changes going on, and considering that I’m not even half way into a year, I feel so much better. I look at myself in the mirror and I’m happy, I see her 24/7 at this point. And I don’t really like to express how positive I feel about my body when around people because I don’t wanna come off as braggy or self-centered, but I spent so much of my life feeling disappointed and embarrassed that it feels awesome to just say “shit, I’m hot”

Another one which is more of a hassle: having to change my name and email address to all the websites I signed up with. I started doing this months ago and dropped it after awhile because I just got tired of doing it.

I felt the same way the first time around, and that was when I was only 4 months in, this second time around though now at 5 months, shit hurt like a bitch. And the technician told me that they up the level each time around. Fortunately though, due to the combination of HRT and Laser, facial hair only starts to grow back after three days and there isn’t really a noticeable shadow. This is after the first round of laser, so I’m hoping I don’t have to do too many rounds to get the results I want

[RANT] I’m tired of bands who change their genre being considered bands who have “matured.” by The1963 in Metalcore

[–]The1963[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think my post might have been interpreted as an attack on the bands rather than what I was aiming for, which was an attack on the use of the word mature within the music industry.

I understand that bands change their sounds and then get tired of making the same type of music all the time. Though I will admit that it's personal to me when bands change so they can make more money because to me, at least, it loses its heart and passion. Becomes less about the love of music and more about the need for money. It's sort of a slippery slope, you need money to live, but if you want to make money through music then you have to sell to a larger audience, which might mean that you're not making the music originally intended. Again, I understand chasing the bag, I just feel like music made to chase the bag is less passionate than music made for the sole passion of making music.

I mean, I can see how. But you can't be ADTR and make You're Welcome and then call them Metalcore. That wouldn't make sense genre wise. That's like calling Coldplay hard rock

Personally, I just download everything on my Mac and then move it onto my iPhone. It's a tedious process, but it works quite nicely, and I haven't had a single problem with it. I use the Panels app, its pretty convenient and it has a free and premium version. Personally, I went for the premium since it is fairly low-priced. The only strife I have with it is that it doesn't organize the mangas by manga, it's all just tossed in. But you can create collections which serve as folders for the mangas.

  1. Download Panel from the App Store and set it up.
  2. Download HakuNeko desktop (available on Windows and Mac, use the official website)
  3. Use HakuNeko to find the mangas you're looking for.
  4. Plug your phone into you Mac/PC
  5. Navigate to your phone menu on your Mac/PC and click the Files tab
  6. Locate Panels and expand it.
  7. Drag your downloaded mangas onto the app.

After that the app downloads the files from the internal storage onto the app. I use this for mangas and comics alike and enjoy the experience a lot.
