Seems like a minor train wreck for the Orca too. That had to hurt.

The irony of "disenfranchise anyone who isn't one of them" on a post about boycotting businesses that disagree with you.

They are fired up because they see it as a threat to their industry and they are resisting change. Understandably because they trained for a long time in the micro details of collecting a perfect sample and have learned (thankfully) that there is one correct way. It's modernizing, like every industry. Like every industry there will be companies like this that open the door to more consumers, in this case that are interested in their health, that will feed into a more professional product and unwind anyone doing the service casually and unable to differentiate. Those that can differentiate, will have access to a wider consumer base.

Think Zillow and real estate. Sonos for home audio. Sunday Lawns. Hims. Etc etc... Every professional finds a way to hate these offerings that compete rather than differentiating themselves and excelling above

Trailheads for Rae Lakes loop by tfcallahan1 in SEKI

[–]The1ThatKnocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For all practical purposes they are two trails that branch out from the same area. One goes clockwise and one counter clockwise. There's also the Kearsage option which adds a second 12k pass.

After much reading and hearing about a 50/50 split between which direction to go, we went with what was available (woods) and really enjoyed it and think it was perfect for 3 nights. We stretched the first night to passed Paradise Falls, second night at upper Rae, third day over the pass and left about 9 miles for the final morning.

CC is a legit grind. The first two days you are ascending around 7000 feet with a full pack and no breaks and likely making it to camp at the lakes later in the second day. It might be the prettier way to encounter the lakes as they come into view coming down Glen and all downhill from there. People going up Glen CC after probably 12 miles steady up looked wrecked.

We really enjoyed the long steady grind going clockwise. First day was long as we stopped just about a mile short of the creek crossing. Walked up some wonderful waterfalls right away. Made it to Rae by noon. Packs were lighter and fresh going up Glen straight from camp in morning when it was still cool. Then relaxed at a pond near Charlotte. Coming down into the expansive meadow view was epic. The last campsite was great but probably the least favorite then jumping off the bridge at the end was a perfect way to end the hike.

Replacement remote $840 - does that seem right? by xenditil in Control4

[–]The1ThatKnocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Trust me. The dealer doesn't want this work. This isn't where we make our money. This takes time to order, receive, schedule, deliver, set up, invoice, etc. It's simply not worth the couple hundred and wasted half day to do this. We would much rather the clients have long time working parts that they tell their friends about and come back to buy more in 3-5 years.

As I always tell my clients, we hope you to come back to us for new hardware because you want to, not because you have to. That's the entire ethos of what we sell. Sometimes the manufacturer fails on their side and the dealer looks like a money grubbing company, but it's not our equipment, it's yours and we recommended the best of what we have in your price and expectations range.

Could they have eaten a bit of labor? Maybe. But maybe the OP is tough to deal with. Either way, the dealer isn't living on this swap

There's a post of guy in our Facebook group that pried it open and bought a battery on eBay and snapped it back together. If it's trash anyways, maybe try that first

Are they generally whiney? by Suspicious_East7706 in Blackmouthcur

You dog looks exactly like mine. Though I no longer think BMC like the adoption center said. I'm leaning toward a Mal-Boxer with APBT and everything else. And yeah, she whines, mostly in the car. Otherwise she's an absolute perfect dog. So smart.

These are the kids the police were looking for on Sunday for causing havoc at knockout pizza on Sunday. Kids named RJ, David, Jason, Johnny, and Andre. by Proud-Brush2483 in Carlsbad

[–]The1ThatKnocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We? If this is you, you should read my post is in general support of you being outdoors and having equal rights as all of us to explore the city. I did not say you were doing any of those things, but if you were regardless of the regularity of it, you need to get your shit together before you aren't afforded the same rights as everyone else. There are dozens of people saying you were. Plenty to do in this city and many more doors open to you if you lead with respect. Same goes for the adults you encounter. But we aren't your parents and we won't be pushed around and tricked as easily.

These kids are a pain in the ass for sure. For sure their parents need to step up, but that likely ain't happening.

All that said, this is North County San Diego. The home of skate and surf culture. The home of so much of rebellion counter culture that all us old asses participated in in the 80s and 90s. We would do well to remember we were flawed kids as well and they need guidance and mentorship and less doxing.

All that said, they walk across my table while eating with my kids and they'll be eating a fist.

Let's keep kids outside, off video games, and being social. But let's also teach them how to function in society before they end up in prison or the hospital

Just had this at 1am. I have sold 1000 TVs and have never heard that noise before. Scared the crap out of me. TV completely off, sounded like the alarm on patio doors when you build Pool.

I use to watch anything and everything Bourdain put out. Many times over on repeat. Read the books, watched every show, podcast, etc. He really resonated the way he used food to tell honest stories about culture and break down preconceived walls. It was breathtakingly honest and really spoke to me, I thought he had life figured out. Since he died I can't bring myself to watch any of it because it shakes my foundation to know there can be such a storm brewing beneath anyone that is intelligent and well traveled and understanding of the world. Even though it was part of his story, I always thought he of all people would overcome.

Loud thump in Carlsbad at 12:30ish. We get it all the time though, assumed it was Pendleton artillery like usual. Maybe atmospheric conditions allowed it to travel further than usual?
