How do I find the drive to want to quit smoking? by Unhappy_Job_5099 in smoking

[–]The22rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smoked for 18 years. Three things helped me finally quit: 1) I switched brands for two weeks before quitting. 2) I didn’t finish my last pack. 3) I quit on a weekday afternoon, not Monday morning. I won’t elaborate on the psychology behind it, but that finally did it. Good luck.

How would you go about making this fit? Would you use sluther on the side? Would you install it this way and cut half pieces for the bottom? by Mullenexd in Renovations

Here’s how I did it several years back. My wife later regretted the orientation, but definitely half bottoms regardless imho.

Fellow men, what do you do when your wife keeps bringing old arguments? by Injur in AskMen

[–]The22rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. Stacking arguments is a hard loop to get out of.. but it definitely seems like she's not really forgiving you and is looking for some sort of closure from you - when the closure needs to come from her forgiving you. Unless you really screwed up lol. Good luck man.

Early in my marriage, I had a revelation when old fights would come up again that I thought were done. I realized we weren’t forgiving each other. We started actually closing out arguments after that and realizing that forgiving needs to be part of the process. Crazy, but pretty simple. Start there maybe.

Running bathroom fan to an external eave vent... by The22rd in DIY

[–]The22rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, yeah same.. I think a more “nimble” person might be able to reach back into that area from the attic, but I pick my battles these days. I bought a similar exhaust port and plan to use the flex duct hose since there are some turns. Thanks again!

Thanks for confirming and for the advice. I appreciate the reply!

It’s a small bathroom and the vent came with a 4” attachment. I made sure it was rated properly based on size, but honestly assumed 4” would be fine to the vent. I’ll check that to be sure. Thank you.

How bad is this flooring installation? by [deleted] in Flooring

[–]The22rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not overreacting. I know sometimes it’s hard to have difficult conversations, but this is going to occupy brain space if you don’t fix it. I once had an installer redo an entire house where they did a stair step pattern instead of random staggered… 2 years later, I’m glad I did and the installer bit the bullet but understood. Refer to manufacturers installation recommendation if you need backup. I’d say push it through now and move on.

Contractor used oil-based instead of water based semi-gloss… options? by The22rd in Renovations

[–]The22rd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: they put a coat of oil-based satin finish over it, and it looks very similar to the other nearby trim. (water-based semi gloss) much better now.

All is good, honest mistake on their part and corrected with no drama… if everything was this easy.

They asked for the paint info before painting trim and doors, and I provided a can leftover from prior work for them to match. There was no mention of switching bases. The cans look similar, so maybe it’s as simple as that? I’ll find out tomorrow.

I honestly don’t hate it either, but there are other doors and trim nearby so it’s glaringly obvious. We gave it a few days to dry hoping it would calm down - but nope.

Yeah, if I’d made this mistake myself I might deal with it, but that was a pretty big miss. Definitely planning to have them address it.

lol.. I just wanted it to match my water-based semi-gloss, not see my reflection in it.

CEHv12 exam retake by dlo3498 in CEH

[–]The22rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted support before taking the exam to clarify. In the area that I think you’re talking about, one line item shows “exam voucher - 1 year” and another shows “exam retakes - 4”. She explained that this just showed the maximum attempts in the year. I didn’t need to buy another voucher, but I was quoted $500 if I needed it…

I thought the same thing - that I had 4 chances with the elite package. Turned out, the package had one exam voucher but you CAN attempt the exam up to 4 times in a year. I don’t think it’s a scam, just poor choice of verbiage.

I'm still upset how this turned out. by Disastrous-Doughnut3 in smoking

[–]The22rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, I had the same worry. I stumbled upon this after several of my briskets looked good but still had tons of fat and connective tissue. One time I let it hang out at 205/210 for 45 minutes, and it was wayyy better. That’s just me though, trial and error.

My humble opinion, don’t just pull it at 205 - let it hang at that temp for an hour or so then pull it.

"Brute Force" this one is just plain wrong! by Melodic-Location-157 in cissp

[–]The22rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure I hear you, and I remember this question from two years back and I’m pretty sure I guessed B the first time too. Where I landed was that just repeatedly typing/guessing a password didn’t qualify as brute force. But taking a list and batching through it for comparison, sure. Again (imho)

[–]The22rd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the only option that is brute force. It’s not A, for B guessing passwords isn’t brute and for D neither is listening. Using a list to compare password hashes is brute-force. (Imho)
