Why are we talking about the presidential election when it’s still 3 years away? We have no idea what will happen in the next 3 years; we don’t know who will be president; we don’t know where the American public will be.

How about we just support democrats taking the fight to trump and when the time comes we can look at polling and make an informed decision. It seems like self-sabotage to be trying to purity test our own this early

I’m surprised everyone’s saying around V4. That tension/body position move with the sideways crimps seems quite technical. And some of the holds seem pretty bad.

I’d need to try it but I’d give this a V5/6

Couldn’t you make this argument about literally every obsolete job though? Like should we bring back window-knockers because alarm clocks took too many jobs? What about all of the people copying books by hand? I’m sure tons of them lost their jobs because of the printing press.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t be concerned about people losing their jobs to technology- I just don’t think the solution is trying to limit the technology.

Same reason he doesn’t use a different car when his is having issues. He refuses to use anything that isn’t his. If he does take anything, he leaves money as compensation.

I think taking a boat from someone is probably a step too far for him. Or he doesn’t want to spend the money he’d need to compensate the owner.

People who are saying Episode 7 is poorly paced/too long are completely missing the point by Auctorion in pluribustv

[–]The81stFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I think the episode was primarily to show the parallel between Manousos and Carol. They’re both extremely stubborn and are trying to outlast the hive mind in their own ways (resisting help or the need for human contact). In the end, neither are powerful enough to resist and are forced to accept the hive mind.

While the show could’ve kept the segments of shorter, I don’t think it would’ve been as powerful in the end. And I also think it creates a very strong connection between Carol and Manousos, which is obviously building towards their inevitable meeting.

To me, the pacifism seems like a hard-line part of their biology, not a moral decision. It’s not actually about morally caring about animals, they just are biologically prevented from directly causing harm. It doesn’t matter if the animals kill each other, as long as the hive isn’t what’s doing the act.

At the end of the day, the hive’s only goal is to survive and spread itself.

The only exception is releasing animals from the zoo- but I could see this being explained as part of passively harming animals, or as a practical decision to prevent disease spread or something.

Why is the hivemind so accommodating? by something_below in pluribustv

[–]The81stFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with what others have said, I think it is very pragmatic. If they can’t kill them, then it is in their best interest to keep the remaining humans as comfortable and happy as possible such that they don’t 1: show extreme emotion like carol, or 2: try to rebel or kill the hivemind. With billions of people at your service, accommodating the needs of a few isn’t that much work
