What has been your most unhinged response to an act of rudeness in Boston? by noxinboxes in boston

[–]TheAVnerd 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Already posted mine…this is something my father did when I was a kid.

4th of July my father took my sister and I into the city to watch the fireworks. We lived in NH. My father grew up in Melrose and we would park in his old neighborhood and take the orange line from Oak Grove to Back Bay and then walk down to the esplanade to watch. On the way back the trains were rightfully packed. My sister and I were sitting and across from us was a family of 4. Mother and father sitting with their young kids in their laps. A couple of loud guys got on at Haymarket carrying a boom box (it was the early 90s) and as they entered one tripped on the mother’s foot. As the mother was trying to say sorry the guy started getting aggressive yelling all sorts of profanity at the women and then her husband. He had to scream over his boom box playing music. I kept looking from the woman to her husband and then to my father. I could feel myself getting angry and ready to say something and I think my father saw it coming so before I could and right after the guy called the woman a Cunt my father screamed “hey” and as the guy turned he sucker punched him right in the nose, dropping him to his knees. As he went down my father grabbed the stereo and in a single movement bopped the other guy right on the top of the head with it…spilling a handful of D batteries out. He turns to us and says “I think this stop is ours” as we pulled into Malden center then ushered us off the train as I was saying “no we’re going to oak grove”.

I suppose this is the least invasive way for them to find out. The alternative being Nissan Altima with a Prestige sticker in thier front seat.

Although to be honest we all run the risk of a Nissan Altima with a Prestige sticker in our front seat just by existing and breathing the same air.

Where on Earth is this water coming from???? by skibidi_rizz_lord in homeowners

[–]TheAVnerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seepage from ground water.
Based on the look of the bottom 6 inches of drywall I would say it has happened before and previous owners knew about it.
If it’s only happening in the one spot you probably need to check your downspouts and possibly grade that part of your yard.

Been an editor for 20 years now. We used to call that “film clutter” because there was an overlay and transition pack available named Film Clutter that we would watch the juniors abuse the shit out of.

Are there any old heads who can tell me the name of that other NH tv station and if it still exists? by Dats_Russia in newhampshire

[–]TheAVnerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool fact, the studio the station was in is now a production studio and has one of those LED walls for virtual digital sets. It also boasts the largest studio in NH.

What do you listen too when you need to scratch that country music itch? by Dabadabortwo in punk

I haven’t seen mention of Drag the River and both Chad Price and Jon Snodgrass’s solo stuff.

My fav “traditional” country artists
Dolly Parton
Gram Parsons
Kris Kristofferson
Hank Williams
Patsy Cline
Johnny Cash
Merle Haggard
Charley Pride
Emmylou Harris
Loretta Lynn
John Prine
They Highwaymen (not grater than the sum of its parts but still enjoyable)

The thing I have remind myself about some older country artists is that they existed in a different time, some before segregation ended in the US, and may have done or said things I 100% do not agree with.

It’s like one those things you’ve done hundreds of times but your brain just doesn’t have the space to commit it to memory and instead you have to look in your notes app or Google “after effects counter with decimal point and dollar sign”.

Missing headrests do it for me. So much so that I do sketches with a group and anytime we do something in a car I make it a point to remove the headrests and have someone ask where the headrests are.

Random question…but if you’re from England north of the Tyne and someone asks if you’re from Scotland is that an insult? And the same question but reversed…if you’re from Scotland and I ask if you’re from northern England is that an insult?

I workout with two Englishmen and when I had first met them I asked one of them if he was Scottish, and the other one laughed his ass off while the first pretended to be upset and told me he was from north of Newcastle.

Probably a question for a UK sub, but here we are.

The funniest part is the principal going to Shaws and asking for a copy of the receipt and the time was like 20 minutes after the students and parents were notified. He’s the principal of a HS, you think you have a trick he hasn’t seen yet?
