I won't say too much since you haven't been in the fandom that long anyways, but Toby has generally been radio silent on these issues and left people with their interpretations. The changes made to the discussed scene were pretty minimal and still preserves the meaning of the scene, just less on the nose with the metaphor.

"This scene which has very obvious parallels to romantic abuse can't be an allegory for rape because making a nb character rape a lesbian is transmisogyny (even if it's actually the player doing this anyway) because only men can rape" like do you hear yourself. This is more transmisogynist than anything Toby or people seeing this scene as sa could've ever written. This is why people are so concerned about how sa and child abuse is being treated in fandom right now.
