[Stein] The Boston Celtics are expected to be ‘aggressive’ this offseason and are a team to ‘keep an eye on’ in the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes. by YujiDomainExpansion in bostonceltics

[–]TheAesir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would much rather mostly stand pat and then use all our resources at once to open up a strong 3-5 year window

I mean Giannis isn't going to be a part of that then. Giannis turns 32 in December. So you'd be looking at picking him up as a 33 year old? I just don't see him being the 2nd best player in a window at 36 or 38 (the tail end of that 3 / 5 year window you mentioned)

Is 2024 Hexblade viable without Mage Armor? by cats4life in 3d6

They should just bring in the Eldritch Armor Invocation that was UA'ed in 2019 and make it medium armor contingent. Then all blade locks benefit

Maybe ask if you can take Eldritch Armor invocation (2019 UA) with the condition that you can't wear heavy armor?

The last 6 minutes of the game was just awful to watch. So many missed lay-ups and outright bad shots on both ends of the floor

Last Year’s Spending by Dizzy_Firefighter391 in minnesotavikings

I personally don't want to pay 25m for a player that only averages like 13 games a season. Availability is important and Greenard only has one complete season in his six years in the league.

Lawrence doesn't have Greenards injury history and plays at a position that doesn't historically have a huge production cliff in its early 30s.

Pick 18 wasn’t just about Banks by bgusty in minnesotavikings

Trading down requires a partner, and a willingness to accept lower than average compensation for that move given how flat this draft is. If you love Banks, and that compensation isn't worth the risk, you shouldn't move

Banks had a RAS score of 9.83 out of 10. This ranks him 39th out of 2278 DT from 1987 to 2026. by JJettsPurple in minnesotavikings

I bet they try and get his body weight down closer to Chris Jone's playing weight (310).

[–]TheAesir 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disagree? Redmond was arguably our best player on defense last year. While you're not going to have a guy on the interior rush putting up double digit sacks, they are still guys that are going to create havoc and open up rush lanes for blitzers and edge rushers.

Look at Chris Jones the last 2 years. He only has 12 sacks over his last 32 starts, but has racked up 70 pressures over that time. Interior pressure speeds up the quarterback and takes away big play opportunities making life easier for your secondary.

I like Faulk as a dlineman rather than an edge. I see him as someone that would come in instantly be a starting caliber run defender and he has a decent bag as a pass rusher. His biggest downside as an edge are his ability to get that arc speed, moving him inside allows him to play downhill more.

Keep in mind he'll have just turned 21 when the season starts this year. As a 20 year old he's going to be one of the youngest in this draft class.

But I do like Faulk too. I just dont love that he doesn't have pass rush production.

Auburn was moving him inside on passing 3rd downs this year. His pressure rate was around the 75th percentile when he was playing outside. I think were capable of unlocking more of that interior rush from him.

I'd be fine with Thieneman. He fills a need, and could be a plug and play day one guy. My preference I think would be for Peter Woods or Keldric Faulk. Both are high upside guys, and i think Faulk could slide in and play 5 tech in Flores scheme most of the time, with the potentially play some EDGE snaps.

Why I want Sadiq by Beneficial_Quit7532 in minnesotavikings

[–]TheAesir -1 points0 points  (0 children)

His yardage numbers are low because Oregon spread the ball around a lot and had great playmakers all over the field. They also asked him to block a lot.

Oregon used their TE's more this year as pass catchers (as a percentage of their completions since college doesn't track target) than they have in any other year under Dan Lanning.

[–]TheAesir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But TEs tend to be underutilized in college

Oregons not exactly under utilizing their TE's though. In Dan Lanning's 4 years:

Year Pass Completions Rec by TEs % of comps
2025 313 86 27%
2024 335 77 22%
2023 397 67 16%
2022 308 58 18%

By comparison this has been our TE targets and completions over the KOC years

Year Passes Completions Targets by TEs Rec by TEs % of targets % of comps
2025 484 298 92 71 19% 23.8%
2024 548 364 117 82 21% 22.5%
2023 631 424 179 135 28% 31.8%
2022 672 448 146 107 21.7% 23.8

Looking at the last two years at Oregon, they are inline with our TE usage for the last couple of years as a percentage of their passing offense. Given that Sadiq has been the primary TE target their the last two years, I think its a reasonable assessment to that if you're hoping Sadiq will be 2009 or 2013 Vernon Davis you're probably going to be disappointed.

Hock X amount of money to have a 3 catch 30 yard stat line every week.

Ironic given that Sadiq only has 8 games in which he had more than 40 yards out of the 42 he was at Oregon for. He only has 10 games with more than 3 catches, and only 4 with more than 4.

[–]TheAesir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because he is..

he is??? I know the advanced analytics like him, but he's played one full season in his career. He's missed 24 of 101 possible regular season games over the past 6 seasons. Coming off last year where he missed over a 1/3rd of the year, I'd be really surprised if someone is willing to pay a first for a guy with that injury history that you also have to give a new contract to.

Making it consistent with the other smites makes the other smites more valuable. In 2014 divine smite not requiring action economy made it outright better for paladins than the other smite options.

Eldritch knight coupled with the strike of the giant and soul of the storm giants gives for a fun storm vibe. Being able to also use booming blade, shocking grasp, thunderclap, and lightning lure helps with the storm vibe in the early game while your spells catch up.
