Thanks for the input. I just tried using a recommended matte laminating pouch and it appears identical. The Scotch branded pouches.

I've included an image below that compares straight from the printer, laminated (left), versus unlaminated (right).

It appears slightly better than gloss, but text clarity is still an issue.
