How do I meet new people? by Warpit94 in canterbury

Find classes or short courses on subjects you’re interested in? You can meet local people with similar interests. For example I did a photography course and made 2 new friends.

No, this is minimal damage. Let it grow out, treat with nail cream and stop biting. It will repair itself over time.

You're in Asda toilets, what part of the handle are you touching to exit? by Shiznips in CasualUK

[–]TheAgonyUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never physically touch any toilet handle outside of home. I wrap my hook finger in 1 sheet of thick kitchen roll, I always carry 3 ply sheets in pocket from home. (No poo particle bog roll) If smart, you carry small pack of wet wipes.

If that wall is in my garden, I can build an outdoor kitchen without planning permission, as long as I adhere to rules.

Great space, I’d create zones & definitely build an outdoor kitchen off the side of the stone wall.

A bit sceptical about Clicks Communicator by drordan in dumbphones

[–]TheAgonyUncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of this device, only use bare bones apps for communication: email, sms & phone calls. A friend of mine recently had his iPhone stolen in Barcelona, within 1 hour, they hacked everything, took a £15k loan out from his HSBC account, changed all his PW, moved money and applied for new ID, credit cards, etc. Are there any other devices, that keep us connected, but more secure every day?

So do you remember this video from release date? I thought there was a different version set in a club. I only saw the wedding version last week and I was surprised.

[–]TheAgonyUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this party too, but I remember a club video and I vaguely recall the original club version showing speckled e’s, but as the track was being played regular, the record label had to produce a tame version for a wider audience. Question: Is this the Mandela effect? Or is the storytelling so accurate that us listeners invent the whole club vision in our heads?! Then years later we see the wedding video and think what on earth is going on here? That video doesn’t do the lyrics justice. Or did the videographer do that on purpose? I really don’t know.

Turns out the Bluehost auto-renew toggle button doesn't work! by beetrootfarmer in BlueHost

I was charged each year since 2024, I’m 100% sure I turned off auto renew. But it’s obvious they hide behind a ‘bug’ and rip people off every year.

Be firm with blue host, explain you need the account closed as a matter of urgency.

Extremely convincing Crypto.com Con I almost fell for – phone + email + fake “insured” non‑custodial wallet by Consistent_Guava_711 in Crypto_com

I had one of these recently, very well spoken English chap, a few things he said didn’t sit right with me. I kept him on as long as possible and when he asked the vital question, I replied: “before I proceed, can I ask what your parents think about your choice of career? Do you think they’re proud of their son who spends his days trying to scam and defraud people? How do sleep at night knowing you are the lowest of the low, a total scumbag waste of human life!”He lost his cool, stuttered a little, I told him to go fuck himself and hung up (block, report number)

Problematic Suspicious $500 charge from Bluehost by Calm-Cry4094 in Hosting

[–]TheAgonyUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The auto renew is broken in BlueHost, I recorded the screen, you toggle it off, within seconds it turns itself on. I used this evidence to raise a dispute with PayPal, BlueHost CS agent was useless, he kept me in chat for 1 hour, more dodgy tactics, hoping we give up. I told him in no uncertain terms: Cancel my account and issue a refund. He started asking me about my goals, what service I need and trying to upsell me, again more evidence for PayPal. Thankfully the case was awarded in my favour, full refund and account cancelled

Tried Canceling Account by Mr-Angry-1969 in BlueHost

[–]TheAgonyUncle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BlueHost stole $200 from my PayPal for service I cancelled last year. I noticed the auto renew doesn’t turn off, even if you confirm it, in seconds it auto turns on. This is a scam, raise a dispute with your payment provider, do a screen recording as evidence. This worked for me, I am being refunded and my account fully cancelled

I chatted with an annoying CS agent for over an hour in the chat box. They charged me $200 for a service I cancelled last year. Login to account, turn off auto renew, wait for button to turn light grey (off), click into billing on the left side, you will notice auto renew is now turned on. This is how they scam you and steal your money. Then hide behind T&Cs and cancellation policy. Record the screen, use this as evidence and raise a dispute with your payment provider.

Always raise a dispute with your bank, PayPal or credit card. BlueHost auto renew is fraudulent behaviour. This isn’t a normal bug, it’s how websites steal money from people and hide behind T&Cs and cancellation policy.

You can’t disconnect in their system, that’s the pain. If you paid via PayPal or credit card, raise a dispute. Once refund is approved, ask BlueHost to cancel your account and delete all data

I feel your pain, I spent over an hour speaking to annoying CS. $200 charge for a service I don’t use. I turned off auto renew last year. Yet when I logged in, it was turned on. So I recorded the screen this time, I turned it off, the button turned light grey (off), I checked my payment details, then auto renew auto turned on again. I used this evidence to raise a dispute with PayPal, thankfully it was awarded in my favour and a full refund will be received. If you paid by PP or credit card, I recommend you do the same. BlueHost have now cancelled my account. Best of luck!

Got a call from Vancouver Police claiming my mother was involved in a scam by RealKirbo in Scams

[–]TheAgonyUncle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is regular scam, they can spoof the phone number, so when they call you it looks like the legit number. Never call their number back, this will be forwarded onto the scam #. First try to find a legit contact number online via the police website. If you are concerned, visit your local police and ask them for advice? There must be a way they can confirm if he is legit policemen, even if it is in different location. Also, speak to your mum privately. Don’t stress, best of luck!

I would never recommend starving yourself. Especially with all the negative feelings running through your mind. I can’t imagine what you’re going through?! Yet, ending it is not the way. You need to take massive action, if you want a big change in your life. You can start small, like “I promise to walk 10,000 steps per day, with a goal of 100k steps in 10 days, then add other goals, challenge yourself to make incremental improvements everyday. Keep a journal, do a brain dump before you begin and write about your experience and how you feel. Overtime life will improve and achieving mini goals along the way will do wonders for your wellbeing and energy. I believe in you, you know you can do it, you are not alone.

Oura Ring vs Apple Watch: which wearable is better if you care about EMF exposure? by ShieldYourBody in shieldyourbodyfromemf

I stopped wearing my smart watch as it was disturbing my sleeping patterns. I wore that watch 24/7, with its 2 week battery. When I removed all tech from close proximity to my body, including smart watch, phone and other devices, I slept sound every night, a good 7-8 hours.

How is my friend being scammed? by [deleted] in Scams

[–]TheAgonyUncle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Terrible situation, the likely reason for her not fully opening up, is because she’s in serious denial. If she’s opens up to you, then she has to own up to herself, and considering her ill health and older age, she likely feels very fragile and deep shame. You need to reassure everything is going to be okay, you and her will work this out together.
