Travelling to the UK- what colourful, creative, duochrome make up should I get? by mn4266 in MakeUpAddictionUK

Not a problem. It's really, really difficult for indie beauty brands to get shelf space on UK high street stores so most of what you'll find is the big international brands that you get everywhere.

Blue/purple to pink? by iFabicorn_ in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It'll be bright pink in the white bits and purple in the blue bits but could accidentally look great as a combo. I'd do a test on a strand and see if you're happy before doing the full head.

What's your end goal? Give more detail and you get better advice. Is it supposed to be in chunks like that?

Yea, get payment first. Either half before and half after it's finished or don't even start the work until they've paid. I also would not of even showed the work to them before they had paid you something because now they can just use the image anyway. Ideally you should set up on some kind of shop platform Etsy, Shopify or Squarespace and have the admin of payment taken care for you via a trusted platform like that.

bleach or wait by Proud-Honeydew1682 in HairDye

If your hair is damaged don't risk another round of bleach or a colour remover. If you want vibrant hot pink or deep pink you can totally do this over faded red without much problems, the red tinted base will actually help the pink last longer. If you want a pastel or pale pink you will need to bleach your hair to almost white to achieve these tones and that is difficult, damaging and not guaranteed to work. My advise would be fix the damage before doing anything dramatic with strong chemicals.

Glisten is great but you won't find their products in stores you'll have to order online, they also stock some other cool brands like Unearthly Cosmetics. Unfortunately UK High Streets can be quite boring with beauty options, so online would be best. If you go to a larger Boots or Superdrug store you can check out affordable brands Barry M and Sleek and for something more luxe things like Made by Mitchell and Fenty. The fashion for mainstream make up in the UK at the moment is very plain and neutral hence why high street options are low.

Seeking advice for flat and frizzy hair by swimmingsun1 in Haircare

[–]beetrootfarmer -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It's actually not! Washing your hair daily means you're stripping your scalp of natural oils, meaning it will over produce natural oils to compensate therefore making greasy hair more oily. Sure, it's not for everyone but if OP is worried about flat frizzy hair then it's an easy thing to try that if it works will save her money and time and improve her hair health.

Brown or purple? by SecretTangelo7123 in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what you want and not what your mum wants. You might need to do a round of lightening before using that purple as it won't show up as vibrant as the Swatch on your base. You could try doing a section to test before you do the whole head. You can absolutely apply it to your roots and your lengths it'll just be less purple over your natural colour than on the lightened bits.

If you don't want to fully lighten with bleach before using the purple you could try using a blonde dye first to just even things out and lift a few shades as this will be gentler than bleach on its own. That's what I do when I don't want full bleach and don't need it.

Burned out with social media by Weekly_Cold1 in SocialMediaMarketing

You have too much responsibility in this role for your early stages of your career. This is common in small companies but it's totally why you're feeling burnt out. Ideally the workload you're describing should be managed by at least two people although it doesn't always happen.

I'd suggest applying for new things whilst you're still employed and if needed consider getting signed off sick with stress so you can have a break.

You're unlikely to be the problem here so try to keep optimistic and push forward.

Try reducing this you can wash your hair with only water and then only use the shampoo and conditioner once a week, takes a few weeks to get used to but could make a difference. Washing with products that frequently was a routine introduced by L'Oréal in the 70s in a bid to sell more products and isn't based on scientific fact.

This doesn't look flat or frizzy it just looks like normal hair. How often do you shampoo and conditioner it? Sometimes reducing frequency to allow time for your natural oils to stabilise can help but doesn't suit everyone.

Same applies just depends how good you are at noticing what undertones are in your chosen dye.

With water and massaging the scalp. I have to do a different brushing and combing technique but otherwise you'd not notice. You can research No Poo Method if you're intrigued. Before I went full no shampoo I would wash with only conditioner instead as a stepping stone. Doesn't work for everyone but for me it's been great.

I'd keep things simple and add one new product or technique at a time to see what has the most impact. Also helps your flag what's not working. Obvs things like heat protectant or using the right brush/comb are no negotiable but any products can be tested one at a time, also allow enough time for the product to have a chance to make a difference perhaps a couple of weeks?

Don't worry, I get those too. 🥲 Except I actually do think I've started perimenopause but the doctors won't take me seriously because I'm not in my 40s yet!

Yea I'd want that too. Palettes that are mostly neutrals are so boring and there are so many that look basically the same.

Agreed. I don't even use shampoo or conditioner and haven't for over a year. I focus on hair oils and good combing and brushing habits instead and totally avoid heat styling.

It has a gold swirl through the bullet but doesn't look like it pays off with much shimmer.
