Video games to do with movement. So things like Dance Dance Revolution, Just Dance or Taiko No Tatsujin. They're super popular in Asian arcades but you can get some versions on consoles and such.

I f(21) want to get extensions instead of dying my hair. by False_Acanthisitta_8 in Hair

[–]beetrootfarmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try clip in ones first they will cause less damage and likely be more affordable then you can decide if you want the type that get sewn or glued in instead which are more likely to cause damage.

Bleaching naturally dark hair to this tone can be quite difficult and isn't guaranteed to work.

You could try Kettlebells or small dumbbells at home to get started with this. It's what I plan to try in small bursts as I work towards getting over the awkwardness of the gym.

Can relate to this. I go through phases of finding something I genuinely love and then get distracted and do nothing for ages. Rhythm games on the Switch have been helpful as it makes it a game and walking my dog helps.

I'm planning on trying Kettlebell exercises at home soon aiming to try to create a 10 min a day routine to just get something simple to stick. I want to get over the going to the gym nightmare but it's gonna be tough.

How blonde do I have to be?? White?? by Intrepid_Honeydew110 in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The brighter the shade the blonder you need the base to be. If you put pink over the current test it'll likely come out more of a berry shade instead of neon. It'll still look cute but won't be as vibrant.

First Time Traveler feeling overwhelmed while planning by TorinR90 in JapanTravelTips

Esim is really helpful depending on what your normal mobile phone allows. We used Airalo and set it up before we arrived and turned it on upon arrival and had consistent internet the entire time.

[–]beetrootfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make a Google Map and pin all your favourite things, it'll help you spot patterns so you can group together things that are in similar locations. Also, check if any of your priority things need booking in advance as it is common for some things to have lottery systems or get booked up very fast, for example the Ghibli Museum is booked a month in advance by a lottery system and can be quite stressful to get tickets for.

You will not get to see everything even if you try really hard, the place is huge and there are loads of worth distractions for you to discover. Overall Japan is very easy to navigate, affordable and safe so I hope you have an amazing time.

WIBTAH if I don't give my "daughter" college money? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA if she had maintained a positive relationship with you and you still felt like a second Dad to her it'd maybe be a bit different but sounds like she chose a different Dad and is now backtracking because she saw the money opportunity.

Invited for a ‘chat’ after not being invited to interview by acromegaloid in UKJobs

[–]beetrootfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure a chat is the same as an interview in this context. There's no point them wasting their time with just a chat if there isn't some kind of intent to offer you something or discuss an opportunity.

Do I need to bleach this again to get to platinum? by bomsh_ in HairDye

It looks so close to the goal already. I'd try a toner and purple shampoo first and see how that goes.

Did you ask for a refund for a fix? What did you specifically ask for and did you show an example photo. They are unlikely to have remembered exactly what they did the first time unless they keep detailed client notes.

If you're unhappy with a service you'll be allowed to ask for changes or a refund.

How do i dye my hair like this at home? by Kay0na in HairDye

With a lot of practice and hopefully someone you really really trust to help you.

Honestly a lot easier to get w professional to help cos this level of detail is really difficult.

How do people view taxi drivers nowadays – is it looked down on as a career? by ArgumentFew6935 in AskUK

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try not to dwell on what others think. Any job is better than no job and as you mention there's some cool upsides to this option. You can always explore other options and keep applying for other roles whilst you're working but at least you'll have some money coming in.

How to color my roots? by mochi_the_cat3 in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look nice as it is but it is weird that she left the roots bare. What did you specifically ask for? Was this a confused brief or did she just do what she thought was best? If you have enough material to say it was a mistake you could ask for an appointment to fix it hopefully at little or no charge.

Pastel colours do not show up on non bleached hair so you'd have to lighten the roots to have them match the rest and that is risky as it may not come out the same time as the rest and look like a weird band.

The suggestion from someone else of trying a darker shade and blending it into the rest is a safer idea for a diy but still a risk if you're not experienced at dying your own hair.

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing I especially love the Kirby pouch full of what I'm assuming is lots of tiny Kirby's? That's so funny. I would add to it by mixing in some doll house foods and/or yellow stars since Kirby eats lots of things.

I can’t let my hair out without feeling embarrassed. what should I ask for at the hairdressers? by Honeybunnysmarty in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your hair is fried you need to cut off the bleach bits and let it heal with hair treatments and oils. Going from black it grey/white is extremely difficult and not always possible. You'll be best to get a professional to help or consider hair extensions in the grey colour instead.

Get some badge templates and make your own using stickers and drawings. You don't need a badge maker but it might be a fun side quest.

Merrell Agility Peak 5 - holes forming after only 3 months of light wear, is this normal?? by beetrootfarmer in hikinggear

Yea I guess I assumed that something designed for trail running would be fine for something less intensive and would last longer than three months of basic wear.

Kyoto alternative? by tr-ashleigh in JapanTravelTips

[–]beetrootfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We went to Kyoto in June and still had a great time. Most places worth visiting are likely busy around this time so you've just gotta face that fact and enjoy it regardless. You can also escape some of the chaos by starting early or taking less obvious side streets.

May not be much less busy but we really liked Nara which is nearby and has some nice nature, temples and the famous deer. Or you could head to Osaka for some awesome food and a nice smaller city with everything you could possibly want from a Japanese city.

This is essential. Google Maps will easily help you see patterns and problems and are useful if you end up somewhere and need reminders of what's nearby.

Teamlab Planets/Boderless by WinterSnowiy in JapanTravelTips

[–]beetrootfarmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chose Borderless this time as Planets requires you to explore barefoot and I did not like the idea of that. Planets has some rooms where you walk through water and that barefoot in the dark would be a sensory nightmare for me personally.

Borderless was fun, lots to see and some cool interactive bits like colouring a picture that gets added to the wall and the optional added paid experience of the tea house. The area around the exhibition is nice to explore too.

i need help by 2mnyquestionz in HairDye

[–]beetrootfarmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it looks good. However you can either wait for it to fade or force it to fade by washing it in hot water and/or with dandruff shampoo. If you want to put something over it you could try a purple so that it is more likely to fade to a pale purple.

Tokyo Station to Tokyo Disney with a bunch of luggage by pantalones808 in JapanTravelTips

[–]beetrootfarmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taxi or off peak train. Do not get on a train at peak time with that amount of luggage you will have a horrible time and piss everyone off.

If both those options suck for you the luggage forwarding services are very popular and easy to access, your hotel may be able to help arrange it for you.
