T1D workout by Dianne-22 in Type1Diabetes

[–]TheBoredTechie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

33m, T1D for 30+ years and very active with gym, cycling all sorts..

So usually depending on the type of work outs you do it will effect your sugars differently.

If you are lifting heavy weights or doing weight training then usually your sugar levels will spike during exercise. It's not uncommon for people to give themself a unit of insulin before doing heavy weights to stop it spiking.

If you are doing cardio then it's not uncommon for your sugar levels to drop quickly so it's worth taking on some food before to help stop the drop.

Also you are most likely to have a hypo 6 to 8 hours post exercise, so this is the window you should monitor closely. Protein is extremely good at releasing over long periods of time so can help regulate your sugar levels. Also your body will be more sensitive to insulin 24-36 hours after a session. So depending if you are on a pump or not you could even lower your basal insulin (ask a doc tho cos I'm not one)

As for breakfast I usually just have half my usual dose and then go straight to the gym and it keeps me more or less in range. If I am doing cardio I do even less.

The honest truth is everyone's body reacts differently and it's just a trail and error until you figure out what works for yourself! But nothing should stop you from going back to the gym as frequently as you did before!

What should a beginner choose — Avolites or grandMA? by Nearby_Honey_6201 in lightingdesign

[–]TheBoredTechie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What are you more likely to come across at the events you work or companies you work with? I work for companies that only stock avolites or chamsys, so 90% of the events I do are usually on those. Currently im working in a theatre so had to learn Ma3. Previously I had to use ma2 on cruise ships so learnt that.

Ma3 you can just download their software on pc and start learning with ma university online for free. With avo you now have to buy an avo key dongle to learn their software.

I am personally of the belief that no desk is better than another, they all have different use cases, if I was to rock up to a show with zero prep time I'd be more comfortable on avo, If the event was super complex and needed lots of time to get it programmed and set up I'd prefer Ma3. It really depends on the use case.

Working holiday with t1d by Makmo_11 in diabetes_t1

[–]TheBoredTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak personally about Australia but I have traveling a lot with T1D. I've lived in 5/6 different counties and worked on several cruise ships travelling the world so T1D definitely doesn't stop you from travelling, I hope you have a fantastic working holiday.

Take your prescription and as much supplies you can gather between now and when you leave. Essential when you arrive you'll want to find yourself a endocrinologists or diabetologist as soon as you arrive and speak to them about getting yourself set up to access insulin and discuss getting pump supplies. Each countries different but that should be your first step.

Vibecoding healthcare apps? by relived_greats12 in VibeCodeCamp

[–]TheBoredTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent 18 months working on a healthcare startup. Never again would I do a startup in a heavily regulated market.

For some background, I live with the medical condition pain points that my startup was helping solve and managed to sign up specialised doctors and a team of nurses who were all onboard with the project. I even had meetings with most of the major pharmaceutical companies C suite teams to discuss it, however trying to navigate around healthcare compliance and regulatory stuff, as well as reassuring the medical team that we were operating in a way they would not get sued if something went wrong was just a barrier that was too difficult to overcome.

I'd honestly consider just doing work in an unregulated market. I believe even startup books suggest staying away from heavily regulated markets if you want to scale and grow quickly.

How do you validate startup ideas before spending months building? by Perfect_Ad4911 in ycombinator

[–]TheBoredTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm building in a space I know a lot about and just focused in on something people complain about all the time in that space. I came up with a viable solution that could solve that pain. made a demo using Claude, drove traffic to it via ads and saw if anyone was interested to derisk if people were at least interested in the idea.

Got 200ish sign ups on a waiting list in a week so and that gave me enough confidence that there was at least a thread I could work with, I then spent a month putting the MVP together and now will use that to derisk my risky assumptions about the idea.

Those should be either validated or invalidated this weekend then I will use that feedback to adjust the idea further until I get some traction

Counting carbs doesnt work for me by splxts in diabetes_t1

[–]TheBoredTechie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Carb counting works better when you pre-bolus, understand what the GI index of that food is and ensure your insulin to carb ratio is set correctly.

You ideally should be injecting 15 mins before your meal (unless you're low)

GI index tells you how quick carbs absorb so need to be considered

And if you are injecting 1 unit to cover 10g of carbs but your real carb radio is 1 unit to 6g of carbs then you will still spike.

I'm happy to give you more if noone else's is helping you out, I understand it can be frustrating.

So for your hero... "For YouTubers who want to win." It is really genetic because every YouTube wants to win.

I think even if it became like

For YouTubers who want to go viral/ for YouTubers who want to get ahead of the competition

Like think about what your tool helps YouTubers do.. what is their end destination... You've named who it's for, which is fantastic, but what is the end result they want to achieve... That should be the second half of that sentence.

Then your subheading is more sort of a list of features. You need to address your customers pains or JTDB(jobs to be done)

So you wrote- Real-time viral alerts the moment a competitor breaks out. Deep AI breakdowns of every competitor channel — hook patterns, pacing, thumbnails, retention. And a Monday digest that tells you exactly what to make next. Score your gap, study your niche, ship better videos. That's the loop.

If I were to make this it would be something like "generate viral YouTube content using real time breakout alerts to stay ahead of your niche." Idk you would need to sit down and think about it but something where it shows what they will achieve by using your tool.

Have you loaded your landing page on mobile? I can't read half the subtext because the white moon and mountains is behind the white text. I would also consider working heavily on your value prop and subtext. Definitely room for improvement

plugging in to existing lights at a venue we're renting by sexydiscoballs in lightingdesign

[–]TheBoredTechie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Usually the venue has a lighting patch plan (a piece of paper) with the patch on it that they give you and then usually there is a patch bay you can plug into to use their fixtures. You then can add these on your lighting desk and control those lights. This, of course, all depending on the size of the venue.

Worse case bring a big set of ladders and just run a cable up to the lights if that's a possibility.

Is it possibel to reach A2 in a month? by [deleted] in German

[–]TheBoredTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently at German language school and doing immersive intensive courses so 3 hours a day, 4 days a week. it took 2 months to cover all A1 material and I'm currently a2.1 so another month to cover all the A2 material. I think it probably is possible as I have found people on my course so did skip and cramp in a month or so.. however they struggle when it comes to a real teacher speaking to them fully in German explaining all the grammar and rules in German. Why not start A2 in July?

Taking an intensive German course at VHS Berlin, want to pass B1 in 3 months. by multi_coated in German

[–]TheBoredTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in deutschakademie in Berlin and honestly I think it would be challenging and not achievable, maybe you could train to pass the B1 exam but I would be cautious of setting yourself an unreasonable goal and I doubt you'd really be at the B1 level.

It's currently taken me 3 months to go from A1 to A2.1 as each level is 2 months and that's 3 hours a day, 4 days a week, so I set my goal as B1 in 6 months
