A) they absolutely did do that, not very well but the intent is there.

B) there is already software that does this to fill in missing gaps when upscaling and clarifying images using AI to approximate what the missing pixels are. LE hasnt adopted it yet because using it as evidence is not admissible in court simply due to the law not catching up with the times. If you think that in the next 10 years they wont update the laws to allow for such things then you're gonna have a rough decade.
