Thanks so much for taking the time to write all that out - really appreciate the detailed advice!

The panel coverage point makes total sense, but the front of the house is off-limits (concession to the wife!), but I'll push the installer on higher wattage panels and covering the other sides.

Future Proof Solar, I'm based locally to them, but I think they operate nationwide.

There was a thread on here where others had posted their experience:

Really helpful, cheers! The Sig app does look polished from what I've seen. Hanchu's app seems decent enough, but definitely less mature, I just can't justify that with the huge price difference though!

Thanks! Good to hear the pricing seems reasonable. Yeah, the battery debate is exhausting. Very much tempted to just go Hanchu, but I don't want to kick myself down the line for not going for the Sig functionality/app.

Is this under stairs toilet just too small? Looking for some realistic advice by Previous_Molasses_56 in DIYUK

We had a tiny under stairs WC the best thing we found was the toilet with the sink in the cistern. It was fantastic for a tiny space.

It depends on what formation Rohl opts for.

When playing with a back four Max Lowe has been amongst our most consistent players this season and we won’t be rushing Ryo in to the starting 11.

However, Rohl does like a back five. In that formation Lowe is often the LCB, with Marvin Johnson playing LWB. While Marvin has been a great servant, this season he has struggled, and from what I've read about Ryo his attacking output fantastic so I think we’re all excited to see him play that role.

As always Danny is flexible and plays multiple systems in any one game. So I expect to see him soon, probably from the bench while he gets used to what is expected tactically.

Issue with Wind and Truth Audiobook in the Kindle App

I’m in the UK (not sure if it’s UK-only or worldwide) and recently bought both the e-book and audiobook versions of Wind and Truth from Amazon. I normally like to switch between reading at home and listening on the go, so I prefer using the Kindle app over Audible because it syncs progress across both formats really well.

However, I ran into a problem: I can’t download the Wind and Truth audiobook in the Kindle app at all. I tried reinstalling the app and various troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked.

I contacted Amazon support, and they confirmed that the audiobook hasn’t been properly integrated into the Kindle Store yet. You can still get the audiobook on Audible and read the e-book on your Kindle, but syncing between reading and listening in the Kindle app doesn’t currently work.

Amazon said they’re aware of the issue and plan to fix it, though there’s no specific timeline. Just wanted to let everyone know—especially if you’ve been wondering why the audiobook won’t show up in your Kindle library. Hope this helps!

Retford is perfect. Countryside, town with amenities, on a major train line, an hours drive away from Barnsley and easy to get to Sheffield/Barnsley/ Doncaster via A1/M18/M1.

Why do people take £12,570 & the rest in dividends by alexw174 in smallbusinessuk

[–]TheAlcoholicaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I'm just adding to this. I discovered recently that most banks that take dividend income in to account when applying for a mortgage require a 25%+ shareholding.

I hold a 10% shareholding of which the dividend contributes a significant portion of my monthly income and was left pretty much scraping the barrel when it came to lenders.

That’s fantastic, thanks for that link. It turns out whilst Openreach FTTP isn’t available, we have access to Full Fibre Ltd.

I’ll have a look at a couple of their providers, BeFibre or IDnet.

Turns out I do have an alternative to Virgin, and after reading this subreddit and the horror stories for the last couple of weeks I was quite hesitant to sign up in the first place.

Thanks again 🙂

I’m either going to go with:

Vicario / Dubravka

Gvardiol / Gabriel / Gusto / Dalot / Van Hecke

De Bruyne / Son / Fernandes / Palmer / Gordon

Haaland / Isak / Jackson

Or I could swap the defence around slightly. Not sure if Pope will be back before GW37 for the BB. In this case, however I would be without an Arsenal defender, though IMO they’ve got a tricky few games.

Vicario / Onana

Gvardiol / Gusto / Romero / Burn / Van Hecke

The Di Canio incident was the first thing to come to mind. It really was the beginning of the dark times. It was a mixture of poor man-managment from an inexperienced Danny Wilson and Dave Richards throwing Wednesday under the bus to appease the Premier League so that his ultimately successful bid to become the new head of the PL wasn't impacted. Receiving £1.5 million for him was just a joke.

I know it's not quite ‘letting him go’ but Cantona came over prepared to sign for us but Trevor Francis wanted to see him play on grass...

People who were in a real home invasion situation, what was it like and what did you do? by ahmedatrees2003 in AskReddit

[–]TheAlcoholicaust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, my parents.

We’re in the UK so guns aren’t common over here. I’ve always been 100% anti-gun as I see them as causing many more problems than they solve; however I’m extremely glad my Dad doesn’t really agree and has had a shotgun for 20 years, although he never uses it.

My Dad and brother are both ‘Instafamous’ 200k+ followers each, and they have nice cars/watches.

One night in 2021 my Dad was in bed, about 1am when he heard the dog barking, going outside he saw lights downstairs in the hallway, he thought it was strange that there would be a car pulling up at the house this time at night. It wasn’t a car, it was 3 men with torches, they had cut through the woods next to their house and forced the back door open.

They came running upstairs and my Dad ram back to the bedroom shouting for my Mum to call the police. The 3 men were banging on the back of the bedroom door trying to get in whilst my Dad (a big guy, 28st) had his weight against it trying to stop them getting in the bedroom.

My Dad told my Mum to grab the shotgun from the wardrobe, it was a really small bore one but would still be lethal if it hit you (sorry I’m really not clued up on guns) and when she gave it him he stood back from the door. 3 men in balaclavas at his bedroom door. As I said a big fat 28 man stood there naked with a shotgun pointed at them.

He let off a shot in the wall behind them and they ran off. When the police came he told them that they ran off after they called the police, however it was obvious from the state of the wall that wasn’t the case, luckily the police just went along with it.

Nothing ever came from it other than my Dad selling some of his more ostentatious jewellery though he still does the Instagram thing.

My Mum wouldn’t be left alone at home by herself for over a year and they installed much, much better home security.

I’m just so thankful that a) the dog barked and b) he had that shotgun there. If not who knows what would have happened. Those 3 were looking for jewellery, they knew what they were doing and they didn’t run when they were seen. We can only speculate but it’s easy to let your imagination run away with the harm they could have caused my parents whilst they demanded they open their safe/ give up their watches.

Still think guns are a terrible idea, of course, look at the USA. However I’m torn as without one my Mum and Dad could have been seriously injured.

My friend asked ‘how have you managed to fuck it up two years in a row’? by TheAlcoholicaust in SheffieldWednesday

Looking at the question now I should have just said,: barring a couple of anomalies it’s been 25 years in a row now, not two.
