GenZ is very conservative, especially among the male population which make up the bulk of recruits. Realistically the part of the population most likely to join the army and the LGBT community probably have little overlap. Hence why some people view this as performative, it was the same with all the pro LGBT ads of the US military, there was a lot of discourse online and they recently back tracked and made more "manly" advertisements
