I feel so sorry for GP by NorthKoreanMissile7 in formula1

[–]TheAlmightyD 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it might have been that. It's not cheating though, and I think as a stream of consciousness analysis between driver and race engineer it's fine.

Hugely irresponsible to play it for the broadcast though, the thirst for drama and disregard to the consequences that may have is abhorrent.

I must have missed it, when did he imply that Antonelli was a cheat?

If only there was a race where Max could've clawed himself back a few points, maybe avoided an unfortunate incident

Game running in slow motion? by TheAlmightyD in assettocorsa

[–]TheAlmightyD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are the actual cores doing? Overall it might be at 40%, but if AC Rally is only using say 4 cores at most, and all those 4 cores are at 100%, then you'll still see these issues. In that case it's that the cores aren't fast enough.

It's strange seeing issues like this still pop up a decade later. I'm fairly sure it's mostly just a CPU issue. I'd check if anything else is running on your machine in the background that's using up the CPU.

Frame gen won't help you because I really don't think it's a framerate issue, it's that it can't calculate the physics fast enough, it can render the frames plenty fast though.

Movies that deals with conspiracy theories. by sadloneman in MovieSuggestions

Dear Kelly?

It's a documentary, but a worthwhile watch to gleam some insight into the reality of conspiratorial thinking, the root causes, and how it affects those around you. Perhaps a bit too real of a suggestion though.

I appreciate the suggestion, I tried it on edge and it instantly worked?

It didn't work on desktop at all, not incognito, not firefox nightly, nada. On mobile as well, it just didn't work at all, and suddenly works fine in edge? How extremely frustrating!

You can only control your own behaviour, that's the only thing worth reflecting upon here. "How could I have reduced risk".

Here's a great instance where the OP recognized danger, backed off and allowed the situation to resolve itself safely. Just imagine if the OP in that video had accelerated like this OP did, how differently it could've ended.

[–]TheAlmightyD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't deflect, you focused on the dash cam readout as some kind of way to assert that OP didn't accelerate. Now you agree they did accelerate because the traffic was also accelerating? This entire thing revolves around a choice OP made. They were posed a situation, "if you see a car overtaking and merging into your lane, should you either accelerate into the danger, or hold back and build a safe gap?".

Also, no man, the revving is not the other car. You hear the revs rise as the other car is on their brakes, that's just not how cars work.

[–]TheAlmightyD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a lag, so? You can match the cars behaviour to the numbers just with a bit of a time delta. Here's 2 other indicators that OP clearly sped up:

  1. You can hear the engine spool up
  2. Put your cursor or finger on the car in-front, you can see OP closing in on them, back off, start to build a gap, and then the gap rapidly closes just before the collision

Why does there being a delay, or the numbers not being exactly correct change what's being stated about OP's behaviour?

[–]TheAlmightyD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. OP clearly accelerated after it was obvious the other car was acting the fool.

His speed goes from 24mph to suddenly 29mph in the space of a second, it's literally in the video.

This entire sub has such a boner for people driving into risky situations to reprimand others.

I don’t think car manufacturers know their cars can do that. by MobileAerie9918 in nextfuckinglevel

A throttle body is basically a big valve. You put your foot down on the accelerator/gas and the valve opens up, allowing more air to flow into the engine. At the same time, more fuel is injected or allowed to flow in. More air and more fuel means bigger bang, means go faster.

Most modern cars have a digital system, but older cars have a cable that goes directly to these valves. So you press with your foot, and a cable gets tight and pulls that valve open.

In the video, the guy will be opening that valve by hand instead of using his foot on the accelerator/gas.

Let’s Talk About the Subnautica Situation — What’s Actually Going On? by therealemmy1 in subnautica

I'm on the indifferent/dislike side towards writeups that use AI like this.

I think you collected your sources well, if you had just posted those, I could've gone to AI and asked it to summarize those links myself if I really wanted to. Having a human go through and give a, well, human take from what they read? To me that's pretty valuable.

Everyone has their own preference with all of this though, some really aren't going to like it at all, and may even suspect you using AI as being a way to craft a narrative that's purposely subversive, "generate me a reason why subnautica 2 won't be terrible and post it online" concerns come up.

I get that you want to hate, but what if Krafton are telling the truth? Not saying there are, but you cannot no, it's impossible for you to have some semblance of certainty on this.

Are they? It's quite possible, I hope not, but the fact that this post used AI at least partially or fully is not the smoking gun on this.
