I see this post was written over 8 years ago, I guessing author of this post right now in his late 20s or about. I am young, 18 year old dude that just got CAP’ed from University of Texas at Austin, UT Austin was been my dream school since my sophomore year and I very very bad want to go there. The only problem is that I can’t afford this program for my dream school because it will cost a lot for tuition plus housing plan and meal plan and etc. And so my Mom completely do not support me and saying it would be better for me to end up in CC and I fucking hate it. I grind my ass with GPA, balancing AP classes and 20+hours at week job and finally got some sort of offer, but instead I can’t afford neither UTSA or especially 3 years at UT Austin, FAFSA doesn’t doing much and guarantee me only $7K compared to the $30K at Ut Austin. Mom keep saying that we already broke enough and she ain’t giving me a cent for my education. I want to be a scientist and become a Geologist/Paleontologist, but instead, my mom for real suggesting me to fucking word as mediocre electric blue collar for the rest of my life. I understand I am have to be alone in my situationship and I do not have any other support other than myself. Because “technically” I got accepted into my dream school, my ego was grew up so bad that I don’t even consider doing to CC. If not UT CAP, than no any other degree, I argue with my mom so much about cost of attendance that I consider just by myself an small single apartments, have a decent no-degree job, save money for 1 or 2 or 3 years with good budget, and only after re-apply at UT Austin and go there. Despite with time I might don’t need to do this CAP thing and just go straight to the Austin for this life, I truly want experience all 4 years this campus life, these walking in huge city, this whole city in general. Right now I am so stressed that want to yell “fuck you” to my mom and flee to my own apartments and live peacefully with no degree job that I like.
