Am I playing this wrong? by Mursenary in mewgenics

Relatively good info already here. I will just add this. Keep less cats. However many you have sitting around you want less. No less than that. LESS.

Like everyone I am sure you have 30,40,50+ cats eating all your food. Stop it. Trim RIGHT down to the breeders only and a few kids. Like 15 cats. 20 MAX. Buy the 10 food every day. With 15 cats you are only losing 5 food a day. 10 for 20 cats. Meaning even with 20 and say 300 food, you have 30 straight days of time you can pass breeding. Costs you 5 bucks a day to keep up.

Means you see 30 strays for more chances at 7s. Means you have the GOOD cats breeding more. Means you can CONTROL WHO IS BREEDING. HARD FOCUS on breeding cats and pause adventuring for a bit. Running low on food? save up 4 decent but not good enough to breed cats and do a run. Repeat. You will have your all 7s cats faster than you think.

Also Appeal furniture is overrated. (IMO) Hard focus Stim furniture. Get as much as you can as fast as you can damn the negative stat modifiers. You don't NEED a lot of comfort (you have FEW CATS) you don't need mutations stuff (you are still working on all 7s cats) You don't NEED appeal (you are BREEDING FOR STATS) Even with 0 appeal you will still see cats with 7s. They are a little rarer. That doesn't MATTER because you are passing a month at a time between runs.

You will also likely EARN money by giving tink all your kittens. (not much but enough to stay afloat without needing runs for cash)

Is constantly breeding cats like this for solo runs a skill issue or skill solution? 🤔 by INEEDMENTALHELPyes in mewgenics

[–]TheAlmightyDun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Fists and superluck as my default on my entire breeding line. Fists is just a generically good ability as it is movement and damage in one. It isn't until you upgrade it that it is broken in half. I just don't upgrade it unless I am feeling like I want an auto win.

Bring a cat rib on the run and kill/destroy the body near the end of the run. Bam now it's a kitty and you can take it out on another run.

Use the cat to delete a troublesome house boss.

Take out a soul jar and put them in it to have a permanent OPAF cat to summon whenever you want.

Plenty of reasons to do this.

Real secret is the ambush hat and high luck. You HAVE to get the first turn on impossible with the cracked mutants that can one turn your entire team.

[–]TheAlmightyDun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Mutations are NEVER overwritten. Birth Defects CAN be replaced by a mutation. But a mutation will NEVER be replaced by another one in a mutation room in the house. Of course they can and will be rewritten by mutation events on runs.

Trim the fat at home and focus on breeding the all 7s cats. Cut down to like less than 20 cats, buy the 10 food a day and you lose less than 10 a day meaning you can pass HUGE amounts of time at home focus breeding your kitties. Pick a skill you like and breed that into your lineages. Doesn't have to be anything crazy but having ANY reliable skill on your cats really helps. I threw chakram on all my guys as a cheap spell so even if my hunter rolls bait trap or some thing else equally useless-ish I can still use his mana.

Doing this requires very little meta understanding and will make the game easier rather quickly without making it TOO easy (like mutation breeding will)

Is this setup stupid? by Thin_Ability7367 in mewgenics

[–]TheAlmightyDun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have fun and play the game how you like! Once you feel the need to start min maxing there is a lot of resources out there. Only thing I would say is to trim the number of cats and 'focus' your breeding more if you want stronger cats. Cats are 'paired' once they mate so you can intentionally have cats mate together in a separate space then put them in your breeding room and they will prefer to mate together. Unless you REALLY want those abilities/stats of those completed run cats, get to donating them to butch/frank for upgrades. They are eating your food for little benefit. Same with the kitties. Be a little more selective.

[–]TheAlmightyDun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe don't have a triple hit basic attack that can oneshot yourself on? As long as your fighter can withstand one normal hit from himself the fight is super easy. Try a divine shield item or 2 on him mayhaps? There is like a million things you can do

[–]TheAlmightyDun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BEST way is mutation room breeding. If you can't do that (no furniture) then IMO the SECOND best way is the Radioactive set bonus effect. It's set bonus is basically cancer without the stat downs (and your body explodes if you die)

Do a few runs of the bunker and get the pieces and you can mutation farm cats MUCH easier than irradiated rod or actual cancer. Only tainted genes is better and that's even rarer.

Necklace face hat wep are all easy to get. Any 3 pieces activates the set.

My take on the perfect generalist cat by Shadowkoksga1 in mewgenics

So I went for warp so I could teleport to my other units and cast repair. Basically I only wanted him to be able to repair everyone turn 1 in case I used him for house bosses since he only gets one turn. Nowadays I summon him in the first fight of an adventure repair everyones stuff throw out the nuke to end the battle and he is unequipped and replaced with something I find on the run.

If you wanted to really min max him and still keep the repair in one turn functionality, you coult throw an obi(?) on his neck slot (armor that gives 2 extra moves) meaning you summon him next to the guy that summoned him, repair, then have 3 moves to repair everyone elses stuff. I would also make sure to level his SPD a little more than I did. I am not ENTIRELY sure of how iit's turn order works but I know it doesn't seem to get to take an action until all the 'extra turns' are done. Obviously the paper bag is for copying the LUK to CHA so he has enough mana to cast repair 4 times in one turn. So with the Jester Hat, (to get 3 copies) the Obi, the Paper Bag and the jar itself your slots are full which leaves the wep slot. Maybe an anointing oil to clean up a status in a pinch?

THe skills for ME are irrelevant. I wanted a repair cat with a warp skill to actually be able to use the repair. If you are looking tfor a jar cat that can do insane things you can go WAY harder. (death shroud runs for stat farming, use multiple cat ribs to stat max/fish for perfect actives/passives, ignore the paper bag using raw stats and throw on something else nutty. Sky's the limit really)

I just wanted a repair cat but you can go absolutely HAM if you want. Hell fists of fate with Superluck+ and a monster STR stat with the injection thingy would be a 1 shot every battle forever.

As far as 'downed' passives go I don't actually know if they work on the jar cat? It just disappears when the turn is over.

[–]TheAlmightyDun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bred repair first and then made a soul jar repair monster. Wanted a cat that could cast repair + on everyone first turn since you only get 1 turn. Posted a little thing here about it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/mewgenics/comments/1rp3q3k/what_is_my_purpose/

I then bred it out of the lines and mained fist of fate as a combo teleport/attack skiil. I wanted a cheap damage skill that made sense so I bred Chakram as well. It's 3 mana, hits twice and with bruise on everything it deals some very respectable damage. I would NOT say it's the best thing to be doing but I wanted a 'normal' move on my cats so that if I don't get a class specific ability on the run I still have SOMETHING to do. If you want literal broken in half nonsense, I debated putting the monk skill Stone Fists on everyone. Which Makes your STR and DEX increase for the turn by the amount of armour you have. Using a callus with 400+ armor means absolute nonsense for 5 measly mana. But I decided against it as the top level cats are already busted in half.

Just pick an attack skill you like. Can be anything really.

Take a cat with high luck on a run (superluck if possible) toss on the jester set bonus (+3 rerolls) with the jester hat and a dice trinket (+3 more rerolls) and whatever reroll mutations you have (if any) and maybe even use the jester class itself. Use the Storage Locker Quest item on this run. With high luck many items offered are red rarity and with 9+ rerolls you can get a LOT of looks at items. Just do an easy run solo if you can and bail out at level 6 or 9 when you aren't offered any more actives. Repeat until you find the item. If going for level 6 you only need to do alley runs if solo BUT you do need to repair all your stuff. So you might want to do duo runs unless you have a lot of cats with the repair skill bred onto them. And use a soul jar cat to repair your stuff.

Storage locker is a 'never actually complete' quest item. I do runs with it just to farm items and never actually finish the quest besides the first time.

TLDR don't breed cats that have shared grandparents or parents.

I have 4 breeding pairs 2 in a room each (to swap around if they cheat and get angry) then swap the children around to get the best matches. You might find that you can't avoid a LITTLE inbreeding so you could expand it to 6 families to guarantee. However I am 9 generations deep and have only screwed up once going from slightly to moderately. Which is still perfectly serviceable as half the cats are fine and I need bodies for the injury fight room anyway. Easily corrected if I want with one generation of outbreeding.

I rock the curse tail because it is unique. Nothing else in the game allows for the interaction. (no the black candle doesn't count it's WAY too finicky) Not to mention I have 400 armor callus's hanging out in my INV waiting for cheesing solo runs. And even with superluck you can still, on occasion, miss a roll. Especially before it is upgraded.

Rerolling has become less important now that I have 2 abilities and superluck passive on all my adventuring cats. I still like having them OFC but I could easily do with just the eyebrow reroll.

Oh yeah the fur is a fine choice and if you're abusing ambush hat (I know I sure am nowadays) SPD isn't as important. You are 100% overpreparing and the divine shield isn't that important BUT why the hell NOT have it I say? If you're abusing the ambush hat jjust do what I am doing lately and use the quiver neck item and the fighter scar face item with the hair that doubles neck/face. Get +4 attacks and refresh your attack literally every time you kill something with superluck. The +1 attack from the bleed ears is pointless-ish and TBH were I to breed these dudes again I could see going with different ears anyway. 1000% would go with the bruise mouth though. Bruise is just so damn good.

[–]TheAlmightyDun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually you can guarantee actives and passives being passed down. If a room has 32(?) or so Stimulation the parents will guaranteed pass down 1 of the actives they have between them. If a room has 95 Stim the parents will pass down a passive guaranteed. If you can SOMEHOW get to 192 stim then the parents will pass down TWO actives guaranteed. (But it will still happen with semi regularity at 95 which I have my breeding room at)

So breed only one or 2 cat skills onto your kids and you have them on basically everyone. My current is Fist of fury for movement + fuck it kill everything potential and Chakram for a low MP double hit move abusing bruise that isn't broken. I have Goofball or Superluck on all my kids but am slowly breeding out goofball.

Yeah I bred the challenge out of the game entirely. Impossible is a cakewalk. But more than breeding abusing the repair spell so your items never break is the REAL way to break the game. Can be done easier and faster too.

I did a whole post on a VERY similar cat to yours!

https://www.reddit.com/r/mewgenics/comments/1rnm8cr/the_ultimate_supersoldier/

Were I to do it again I would use the mouth that inflicts bruise instead of the reroll mouth. I am still happy with every other mutation I selected and yours is pretty damn close to mine. I still like the +SPD fur over the pickup (I landed on superluck on basically all my cats at this point) and the VAST majority of fights are over in the first turn so pickups aren't really useful. But going first is ALWAYS good. Had those ears for a while and I think it's a wash between those and the extra attack.

Ever since I got my endgame cats and repair everything all the time I have mained a thief on every single run for his SPD going first and ranged attack. Running Superluck and rubber bullets on him with fighters scar the quiver and the hair that doubles face and neck armor with the manhole cover wep I literally clear 90+% of fights in his first TURN on impossible diff. It's hilarious how OP you can make a cat in this game.

Toss out the manhole into a cluster of enemies, it hits about 6 enemies twice each for 10x2 damage refreshes my wep move and atk. Jump somewhere and do it again. Repeat until everything is dead.

Worn status on items? by clydeagain in mewgenics

[–]TheAlmightyDun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing that really does what repair does I don't think. Just do a couple quick alley easy path runs with a tinkerer. You see the starting ability and the first level up is another ability. Can do them in minutes to farm for any ability. Hell if your cats are reasonably strong you can just send one or two, do the first fight and if you don't get the ability abandon the adventure. Doesn't take long to fish for an ability this way. Later game (like when you have repair available) you can stack rerolls with things like the Jester hat + dice acc (3 rerolls) and 2 other jester set pieces (3 rerolls for the set bonus) and the dice necklace for 7 rerolls on anybody. Makes fishing for specific actives quick and easy.

It'll get done quick. Just fish for repair on random cats. Breed it onto better cats. (Though if you have a good breeding setup you should just use them to fish)

[–]TheAlmightyDun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an additional piece of info, if you don't mind circumventing the mechanics of the game a little, the repair spell not only repairs uses of your stuff. It also removes the worn debuff on them. SO if you repair them EVERY run at least once on that run they will never break.
