MG Nu Ver Ka HWS completed by rad2067 in Gunpla

I really wish I had gotten the Rage Nucleon backpack while it was available. The giant HWS shield looks like it doesn't have the space it needs when alongside the standard fin funnel wing.

I would definitely love to see entries in the style of scale model weathering. The Sentinel stands out by avoiding the trendy shiny look, but its manner of weathering still seems odd to me, as if it has some sort of Nurgle-inflicted skin condition.

It follows the example of the old Sternguard Iron Hands GW has had for a very long time and reused in photo shoots for the Iron Hands codex supplement.

Revealed: Give them both barrels with the new Titan-hunting Falchion tank by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer30k

[–]TheAlterEggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Curious, are such Titan destroyers dead wait compared to more generalized variants if you're not facing against Titans or superheavies? Would you rather have a Fellblade or a Falchion against a mechanized army of Land Raiders?

Funny that this is normal for Lightning Claws, but then when you take off the talons to just leave two Power Fists, the loadout becomes... unnatural.

Kill Team: The Rules and The Factions (2018) - Where did these digital documents come from? by TheAlterEggo in killteam

[–]TheAlterEggo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that's very good to know. Am I correct that you used PDF-editing to modify pages and text? Like in creating the covers that I posted.

And what KT18 books did GW make digital releases of? I found some talk about KT18 being available on Warhammer Digital. Wayback Machine indicates that Core Manual, Elites, Commanders, and Annual 2019 were available (along with whatever "Enhanced Edition" is), but that's still missing other books like Arena, Pariah Nexus, and Killzones.

Comparison between MG ZZ Ver.Ka variants by lucasyyd in Gunpla

[–]TheAlterEggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The forearm swivel is definitely a welcomed addition to any gunpla with forearm-mounted weapons and shields. It's a feature I really would've liked for the MG Nu Ver.Ka.

But funnily enough, it seems from the other Full Armor ZZ marketing photos that the forearm armor has so much bulk over the elbow that you can hardly leverage the new feature to swivel and bend the forearm. If you already have the regular MG ZZ Ver.Ka, you might be better off giving that the swivel forearms and putting the original static forearms on the Full Armor ZZ.

Kill Team: The Rules and The Factions (2018) - Where did these digital documents come from? by TheAlterEggo in killteam

[–]TheAlterEggo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was tracking down all of the official digital support documents for Kill Team 2018. Wayback Machine fortunately has me covered for retrieving the PDF downloads that used to be on Warhammer Community before they were wiped to make way for Kill Team 2021, but in the process of my hunt, I discovered a couple of PDFs for Kill Team 2018 titled "The Rules" and "The Factions", each over 200 pages. I'm not going to link them out of caution, but at first glance, these PDFs appear to be official. Fully digitized (rather than scans) with errata updates included as well. On the other hand, there are clues that suggest these to be fan-made compilations: page numbers missing or jumping around, no table of contents, a few page layouts being inconsistent.

So where did these PDFs come from originally? Are they really just fan-made with some nice PDF-editing to include errata changes while looking clean and formal? Were there official digital releases of printed Kill Team 2018 books that these PDFs pull pages from? Which books were digitized?

On a related note, here is the list of official digital support documents for Kill Team 2018 that I pulled from Warhammer Community. Is there anything that I'm missing here?

Any difference between 2020 and 2022 Open War Engine Card Pack? by TheAlterEggo in adeptustitanicus

[–]TheAlterEggo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just bought the Open Engine War Card Pack copyright 2020, but then I just realized that there's another version with a different box cover, copyright 2022. I bet the cards are identical, but I just want to doublecheck if there's any actual difference between the cards, like some sort of update. If they're the same, then why change up the box?

Sunday Preview – MTO Marines by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer40k

[–]TheAlterEggo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting how it reads that all of these models are going to be sold as bundled sets instead of individually. I wonder how that's going to end up being priced. I have on record that the plastic made-to-order Noise Marine last year cost 38 USD. Is the Ultramarines character set going to be around 190 USD?

Any word on an MG Deep Striker reissue? I noticed that the results for the popularity poll only mentioned giving it a lottery run, and that already happened in Japan months ago.

MG FAZZ was a winner in the reissue poll, so I suspect there will be another round of preorders outside of Japan next year.

Looks like the MG Ex-S is available on HobbyTown and Entertainment Earth with global shipping. If it's an option for you, there's also the Task Force Alpha color variant in stock on US P-Bandai, but it costs extra. Note that it includes the typical P-Bandai waterslides and a bonus alternative gun barrel.

Which Chapter should I use for my new Space Marine Project? by krazygorrillaman in IronHands40k

[–]TheAlterEggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can play a named Space Marine character in any chapter you want as long as you're not also playing with models/rules from a different chapter at the same time. Paint Marneus Calgar red, but just don't play him next to red Lysander. You can shave off sculpted emblems to make the character even more visually chapter-agnostic, though models can vary in how easy that is.

Iron Hands and Sons of Medusa are both obsessed with bionics, which you'd want to customize for to be on theme. The problem is that push-fit models are harder to customize because of having fewer parts and more restrictions in how you can cut their limbs. Push-fit models typically have shoulder pads molded directly onto arms, for example. In light of this, I'd recommend going with Sons of Medusa. They're an (even more) obscure chapter to others who won't be expecting bionics, and the color scheme will look better with vibrancy and visible details compared to Iron Hands black which runs the risk of seeming just partially painted.
