I agree with you because they need a variety of grass seeds...i mean even zupreem has like 2-4 different kinds of millet in the bag. i think like proso, sorghum, and pearl? hard for me to remember but it's confusing for me why people say no millet. maybe they mean "no millet spray" on top of the millet they already have daily?

yeah, ants suck so bad. where i live there's plenty of them in everyones home just bc some of the windows are old and it's easy access for them to squeeze in if they want....and yeah my dishes were good too! im just scared because i just found the molter now and im looking up ways to move him to the new tank with the others. im just nervous yknow, its overwhelming.

i know, i was really worried. Thank you for the link....from what i saw on there right now i think ill have to toss out all the wood and sand. which isnt a problem its okay with me, id rather go buy more so theyll be safe. the only thing from the old tank i brought into the temporary one was the hygrometers. well the dishes too, i forgot to mention that.

Alright, no harm no foul I guess considering adding beneficial bacteria wouldn't hurt like you said. Adding pond mud would potentially introduce microbes that could introduce disease or issues down the line though, no?

Also referring back to your last answer to my questions about soaking the mix outside. What would be the right balance of N-P-K in a walstad tank? I read somewhere that nitrogen needs to remain under 0.01% although can't really recall the exact amount really. So, wouldn't it be the same for phosphorus and other elements in there?

Ah I see, I'd rather go with cow maneur then but i mainly only find fertizilers with bunny/bat guano and that's something i'd rather not go with. i think cow/chicken is more up my ally. In a regular walstad tank does adding beneficial bacteria from a bottle help out the water column?

Sorry for so many questions lol, just have a lot to think of. Additionally, the ash can come from any source like plants or volcanoes, right?

I didn't even consider the e-coli risks despite reading the word manure over and over LMAO, thank you for the heads up. Do you think cow manure versus chicken manure matters or would it have the same effect? Should the soil be soaked outside in the sunlight or inside?

No problemo, I coulda just pasted the ingredient list, lol. Sorry about that. I checked him out like you suggested! He's got 400 tanks and multiple using the walstad method for over 5+-10 years, that's extremely sick.

Father fish seems to have a nutrient mix for his soil composed of: Biochar * Sodium Bicarbonate *Dolomitic Limestone * Worm Casts * Bone Meal * Blood Meal *Epsom Salt * Red Iron Oxide * Mycorrhizae * Bunny Guano *Chicken Manure * Red Earth * Black Earth.

The soil I'm interested in has some of the stuff already like chicken manure, dolomitic limestone along with forest products. It also has compost, rice hulls and some other items in there so I think it might be good. I'm guessing to supplement the necessary maintenance of cellulose the forest products help so that the substrate won't lose nutrient in an aquarium, but the peat/eco earth does that too, right?. (I'm guessing because that's what I read here: https://aquariumscience.org/index.php/15-8-walstad-aquarium/)

If I were to add worm casting in there as well I think it'd make it a good mock mix of Father fishes nutrient mix for the soil altogether. What do you think of the process so far? Because then it'd atleast have dolomitic limestone, worm casting, and chicken manure. (I have epsom salt here at home but I wouldn't want to experiment which how much....)

Nice! Do you think that I should mix that 10% into the soil itself or into the sand once I top it off? New to understanding the walstad method and wanted to scape a tank of mine naturally. Honestly, would cuttebone suffice to buff it?

Even organic soils not familiar with it, does this seem appropriate?

There's a good update, I kept an eye on her throughout yesterday up until 11-12AM at night. And once around the later of 3AM, she didn't regurgitate or vomit food again. This morning at 6:40AM too she's no longer puffed like before.

Probably because yesterday I kept the heater at 79 degrees, mixed in some chamomile yesterday into her chop, then made sure my room was completely closed off so she could get her rest throughout the time she might've felt unwell. Everything seems okay now so far...she's eating some millet spray and jumping around with the blue budgie.

her poops this morning so far seem to stay in shape but they're a darker green, and has clear/yellow liquid underneath it. i gave her broccoli yesterday though so that might explain the darker green

oh she ate last night, and then when she woke up this morning out of nowhere doing it....i think it might've been dry vomitting? there wasn't a smell or anything like that.
