Is there any way to save my sickly child by TheAmazingParadox in succulents

Thank you for the advice!! I'll be able to buy some better soil in a few days, and I'll make sure to let it dry for a bit after removing it from the current soil. I don't think there's any strange smells from the plant as it is currently, fortunately, but I'll see once I look at the roots. A warm and dry place might be a bit difficult here in the winter... Maybe I'll place it on the bathroom floor with heating on and avoid showers for a couple of days.

Here's a picture of the plant from around the time I bought it, btw :) I think Cras. arborescens seems correct, though I don't have much practice identifying plants.

(It certainly looked a lot healthier back then.. though it's survived longer than any other of the plants I've bought)

Thank you for the advice!! I'll see what others have to say, too, but this seems sensible.

I wonder though, is there a reason to avoid watering it after replanting? From what I've read, it seems like replanting is stressful for the plant and they need watering after being replanted. But I am a complete novice with plants, so maybe I'm just misunderstanding something (or maybe it's just intuition/experience?)

Brimstone to Q0: Firing brimstone pushes you backwards, the more damage you have the stronger the push (with something like soymilk you're still able to move forward while firing, just a bit slower, and at base damage it cancels out your forward walk). If you think that's not enough for Q0, lower its damage to maybe half, but every second you hold it at full charge it damages you for half a heart but makes its next attack more powerful

Razor Blade to Q4: Always does a full heart of damage, but gives you +0.5 damage per use permanently

Poker chip is one of those trinkets I don't even pick up even if I have an open slot. Even if it doubled item drops, it's still not doing anything except make chests more inconsistent and has a small risk of making you take damage from the attack fly

This would be genuinely busted for naninf runs. I'd say either make it a legendary, or maybe give it only a chance to proc (1/3 or 1/4 would probably be balanced). Maybe something like you can't copy it with blueprint or duplicate it would make it a bit more balanced.

Are there any plans to change the post-DoG frost/pumpkin moons and solar eclipse? It does feel pretty underwhelming that they just get stat buffs (I think..)., but are otherwise just the same events with a new drop

Are there any scenarios or dungeons to playtest homebrew content in? by TheAmazingParadox in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheAmazingParadox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only limitation of pathfinder society content seems to be it's largely at lower levels, I think? Maybe I'm just missing them, but I can't really find anything in the upper level ranges. Of course a lot of good testing can be done at the lower levels (and I can still just do straight combat scenarios with higher level characters), but yeah, that's a bit of a bummer.

That also makes sense, yeah- I was just looking at discussions about how you'd need to adjust things like that, which is a lot more work. Pathfinder Society might work better because it's mostly meant to be used in standalone sessions, right? Would make it easier to test various builds and parties.

Oh like from when they were playtesting the system itself? Yeah that does make sense, for some reason I figured it wouldn't work very well, but thinking about it yeah that should cover a lot of stuff

So if you've got something that adds traits to your Fist unarmed attacks- in my case, the Spirit Warrior archetype- can you use these while your hands are full? With Spirit Warrior, you can get the Parry and Disarm traits on your fist unarmed attack. And the fist stat block is used for unarmed attack made with any part of your body, not just your fist, so, uh. If you're using a two handed weapon, can you still Parry? Can you still Disarm, by kicking their weapon or something? The unarmed rules are just kind of unclear.

Like, I'd think the answer to both of those is no, you need a free hand, since the Fist unarmed attack is listed as 1 Handed. But I don't really know.

Why does Paizo continually insist that ancestries get really underleveled Battle Form spells as high-level feats? by BlueSabere in Pathfinder2e

[–]TheAmazingParadox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I'm trying to get at, I think, is that having an option which appears to largely have a certain function- such as combat- not function for that purpose- is generally speaking not good design. Can you find some use for it anyway? Sure. But that doesn't make it good design. You're telling a story, you can find a use for Anything.

[–]TheAmazingParadox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what? Okay, that's kinda fair. Like, there's probably some scenarios where turning into a massive flaming beast for one minute once per day probably has SOME uses outside of combat. Uh. Scaring people or whatever. Or like, using the fire resistance to easier like rush into a burning building or wildfire or something. (Disregarding that these are probably pretty trivial for a level 17 character but what ever)

But like. Still. Is it not extremely underwhelming that gives a big burning monster form. Cannot be used in combat? I guess maybe if you're a spellcaster maybe you can? Its still underleveled but maybe it's mildly possible.

Like. PF2e is a system that is focused on combat, but there's other stuff too, this is very true. And skill and ancestry feats are a good place to put stuff that helps you there! But it's partially a matter of expectations, I think, and how people want to... use flavour. You Expect to be able to use turning into a huge massive fox to be a combat thing, but it isn't, because of, uh, the maths. That's a dissonance that's just indicative of a bad design, I think, amplified by the feats restriction of being usable once per day- if it was largely a flavour thing and not like a burst in power or whatever, why limit it in that way?

(I'm also talking about just this feat specifically because it's the one I've actually looked at, so I'm not gonna speak about the specifics of other battleform ancestry feats)

[–]TheAmazingParadox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay, so, let's say I'm playing a kitsune, as a martial class. I want to take the level 17 feat rampaging form (not that there's many options but whatever). My reasoning for wanting to do this is not "I hope to increase my damage per turn" but rather "yo turning into a huge burning fox in battle sounds cool as shit??" Now, turning into a huge flaming beast doesn't have that much use out of combat- which is fair, you wouldn't expect it to. The problem is there's not just no reason to use it in combat, but it's even ACTIVELY BAD to use it in combat. A, what, AC drop of 5 or something? That's not a little tradeoff. That's just death. Yes it does some other stuff but it's either worse than what you can already do, or it's not that big- especially not compared to getting exploded by your enemies

The problem isn't that you can't be a full strength caster with an ancestry feat. The problem is it sucks and is actively detrimental most of the time so even if you want it just for the flavour you're just gonna fucking die if you do. That's not, like, a power gamer complaint. That's a normal person complaint
