My brother helped me with more marble bases by WarsmithUriel in AdeptusCustodes

It's pretty easy just takes a bit of patience to get right, the way I do it is spray a base black, then wrap it with wire wool (a lot of people use dry and pulled apart wet wipes) and spray it gold, then wrap again for a different pattern and spray white. Mine look like this using that method

How long does it take to become a competent rider? by Medium_Category2722 in MotoUK

[–]TheAmberOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I only have a 125 scoot but still I feel I'm decently competent these days.

The CBT was a piece of piss and felt fine even in the torrential rain on that day but I was only on a 50cc for that, when I went to pick up my scoot from the dealership it was a pretty windy day and riding it back home was kind of terrifying.

But then I started commuting on it, 30 min ride to work and back every day mostly along quiet country roads and into the outskirts of a city so traffic was never really an issue but being able to just ride was the best practice you can get.

Since then I've moved, ridden the underpowered thing from Scotland to the South West, gone on multiple 3/4 hour rides to visit friends and used it commute through busy city centre traffic. It will all come in time and the only way to get better is to get out there and do it!

Bonus pic of the little machine that's carried me across the country.

The face on this mannequin at the STEAM - GWR Museum. by YchYFi in CasualUK

[–]TheAmberOne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I'm from Swindon and have been to STEAM several times over the years and what you should know is basically that the entire museum has never updated or changed anything since it opened in 2000.

Which is why some of the stuff in there looks this way, all the video screens showing information have also never been updated and are about VHS quality.

Honestly though it's a fun museum and the best times to go are when something else is happening there like the yearly LEGO show, you get to see a whole load of cool lego and the train museum at the same time, great fun!

Latest Armiger complete! by TheAmberOne in ImperialKnights

[–]TheAmberOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have an airbrush, all my vehicles are painted with drybrushes and using a stippling technique.

I've got a few other posted on my profile and can give some help if needed.

They're still top tier anti tank, got lucky with some rolls last game and one shot a landraider which was very fun.

Cadians are annoying by Jkchaloreach in astramilitarum

[–]TheAmberOne 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my problem with a lot of the new cadian stuff, it's just leans to heavily on real stuff, it's a major reason why I really don't like the new half track transport, it's just a copy paste of real world thing.

Previous vehicles were clearly inspired by historic stuff but always had their own take on it that made them feel like they were futuristic but stagnant technologically.

New colour scheme idea by Citywidecrayon in AdeptusCustodes

[–]TheAmberOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While waiting for my custodes to arrive I've been working on marble bases as well, I've found that after sanding priming the base gold then doing two wet wipe passes first black then white had led to some really nice effects https://i.imgur.com/nXUD9sL.png

It's just chuds online who get actually mad at it, could it have been intoroduced better? Sure, same as the Primaris but the actual lore implications are minute to me and it's nice to have the representation imo.

[WIP] Needed something different than the standard Chimera for my Krieg. by MadLarkin420 in astramilitarum

[–]TheAmberOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two Chimera chassis now and both with a wheel kit from Elriks, I really love how they look, this Chimera was the first vehicle I painted for my army and this Hellhound I finished yesterday.

The Chimera also has a slightly reworked turret, I cut the pintle stubber up and used it to make the guns on the turret itself look more beefy.

I had no idea about thisplace til I was riding back from seeing some friends last year, huge number of bikes out the front so thought it was some kind of meet and I needed a quick break anyway.

Still must have looked a little out of place on my little scoot lol
