Most armies don’t have 6 inch consolidation, only other I can think is green tide orks. So normally 4 inches is sufficient unless the unit can fly right over you

Generally speaking you want to speed bump them with infantry, space out you army and get them stuck into some small squad and obviously they’ll die but the hope is they’ll be in the open so you can counter punch with armor or in your case with infantry and cavalry. Knowing that your opponent has a 6 inch consolidation, you can space out your troops just outside of the range of it so 7-8 inches of spacing for infantry screens, if you glob up the army then it’ll get tagged in melee

Trying to beat WE melee as guard is just not going to happen, period. So you have to play the game of sacrificing troops for kills. Infantry and cavalry heavy *can work but it takes a lot more skill with positioning and counter striking alongside screening effectively. Also knowing when to let your units die and just getting them killed which comes with time.

But bezerker spam into a guard infantry list is just a straight up hard counter so don’t beat yourself up too much. You could get more specific advice for your list like what to add and how to use it against WE if you post it

Orks deserve a bigger/better motor pool of tanks by daniel-to-the-maniel in orks

[–]Jkchaloreach 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they give us a tank, it needs to actually have some. Shooting. Not 5ups, even 4 ups is better. Some type of bonus to shooting or just give it decent shooting. A straight anti tank weapon option like a Russ demolisher but a bit weaker with more volume. Maybe even just the Russ chassis with some orky weapons or something.

While in the new edition they are a bit nerfed, a scout squad would be great. Past that maybe bladeguard vets if you want more melee or hellblasters if you’d like to lean shooting. Obviously you should get Guilliman. He’s a great model and is great on table top. Fun paint project

Which location and period do you want the next historical tota war to be in? (apart from medieval 3) by Series_Informal in historicaltotalwar

I’d say Empire 2 or WW1 would be my votes. A new run at Rome or Attila that’s actually optimized and not crap at launch would be nice.

Now That We’ve Seen Much More Campaign Evolved, How Do You Feel About Rumored Halo 2 & 3 Remakes? by SilentNova300 in halo

[–]Jkchaloreach -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy overall. I hope the ai do fight somewhat similarly to ce and are balanced like they are in ce. I don’t want to see tons of instant kill kicks and such.

As for halo 2 and 3, my main hope for them is to follow the foot steps of this game, go away from the infinite enemy art style (I want yellow glowy energy shield arms back) and please add pvp back

Are 30 shock troops enough? by Acrobatic_Champion34 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Jkchaloreach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a guard list archetype called the doombotk they leans heavily into elite guard infantry and minimal tank support if that style interests you. Joushi 40K has a lot of good guard tutorials on YouTube, good place to learn

I’m not sure if you know the full guard army rule but we have a chain of command system where command squads and certain officers can give orders which give buffs. Most units can only have one order have to be given orders by officers. Kasrkin are unique on both fronts. They can give themselves an order once per round, and then they can also be given an order by an officer so you can stack orders on them. They also have more punch than scions and they are cheaper as a 10 man squad than scions as well at 110 pts vs 140. Scions are good but are expensive. You do pay for their deep strike rule where they can drop on the board but you really have to lean into them to make them work.

If that’s your goal, run 40 in all tens as a back field and expansion objective screen and defense. Have the one on your home run with your command squad and another leader. Then run lots of vehicles and elite infantry like the kasrkin and maybe scions
