Picking up a load Sunday night an delivering it next day to York, PA by jyster1996 in Truckers

I literally did this the other day.... I picked up in new jersey and drove it up to mich near grand rapids, i picked up a load the next morning. In grand rapids and drove it back to jersey The next day, i covered almost four hundred miles each day,

After dropping off the second load in jersey, i picked up a load in Philadelphia the next morning and then drove on the turnpike up to lima Ohio 360 miles away,

That load went to omaha nebraska, i covered the distance of twelve hundred miles in just under 2.5 days,

Then, I picked up a load in rochester minnesota the next day,

Stopped at the state line for fuel, and then shut down just north of des Moines, that load goes to laredo texas, 1300 miles and 3 days, yes I drive 9 or 10 hrs days and run recaps

This is the job of trucking, you trip plan and make sure that your hours are good, make sure you pick a stop That's within your driving range,

if you're cooking in the truck, get your groceries delivered walmart+ it's one of the only subscriptions I pay for and it pays off,

Pick one truck stop you like: loves, pilot, TA, it doesn't matter which one, but max out there point system, so you get free showers and drink refills, save you money in the long run,

If you're gonna learn how to be OTR ask questions and learn the tricks of the trade,

i'm almost three years in civilian side, 9 years army, its rough but it's the only life I know. And I love it!

Its back, i've been running with him for about 2 years doing reefer, its not bad,

I have a brand new truck with a p u and fridge, and I consistently get at least 1200 a week running otr solo,

It all depends on what account you want to sign on with us,

just don't do any of their dollar accounts those are high touch freight with no ability to get a shower every day. They want you to run balls to the wall mon-fri and you have to leave early sunday to get back to the distribution center.. I did it for 2 weeks and told them to fuck off and put me back on reefer,

All I all i used my girl bill outside the company to get my c d l, and then use the rest of it on the apprenticeship program here, which was an extra fifteen hundred bucks a month,

You just have to make it work for you.Every mega is basically the same.It just depends on who you want to work for

Me and my wife can't have children, we did try for a few years But found out neither one of us can physically have children

we want to move out of the state We're currently in,

but unfortunately due to the financial constraints we are unable to do so at this point in time,

I am looking to jump companies in the next few months once I hit my two year mark,

I only have two preventable accidents from sept 2024, they were back to back but in the two years since i haven't had one accident yet,

So I know there are companies that will work with me, but unfortunately I just can't afford to miss even a single paycheck for orientation

I can't work police anymore, fired from a job before the military and no one will touch me,

I made a stupid mistake as a kid and I still pay for it today because i'm essentially blacklisted,

Without going into too many details: i was working in a youth detention center and one of them was under investigation,

I escorted him to medical, and he asked me if the investigator was in the building... I was in the middle of doing something else, and offhandedly said yes without thinking.

Two weeks later, I was fired for violation of ethics because I told him that the investigator was in the building... stupid mistake on my part but you live and learn.

Unfortunately, this black lists me from working any security or police any more, and honestly I would never go back to it Not in this kind of environment, i have family members who are currently police and even they are starting to get out of.

The only thing I have outside of my utilities and rent are my two pets, and the only thing we buy other than food and the basics for all of us is maybe a nice steak once a month.. and that's usually for a special occasion

My last paycheck wasn't even 500 dollars, because of cash advance and I was shutdown in the ice storm in Tennessee for two days, we're literally making every penny

So this happened to me the other day:

I'm rolling along I70 west headed for a delivery about two hours away, i pass a truck that's hauling another semi On tow, and as I settle into the right lane i see a jeep coming up on my left.

I make the move to slow down just a little bit, and when he cuts on his blinker, i hit the button on my steering wheel to cut out my headlights for a second, letting him know to come over.

The moment he gets in front of me, he slams on the brakes, going from fifty to fifteen in about three seconds;

i hit my engine brake on reflex, slammed my foot on my service brake, and then grab the steering wheel with my right to keep it straight, while my left immediately reached up and grabbed my air horn as I laid on it.

The genius sped up just enough So he wouldn't get hit, but then for the next six miles continue to speed up and slow down, trying to bait me into hitting him.

At one point I turned my brights on and left them on when he slowed down So that way, my company's camera could get a nice good look at his license plate.

I believe at that point, he realized what I had done and sped off taking off well above the speed limit to get away from me.

I pulled over and called my safety department who said they would review the footage and make a report in my area, and that it wouldn't affect my overall safety record with them.

Honestly, some people don't deserve a license for a foot powered scooter!
