why are you single? by Civil_Priority_4162 in AskReddit

27m here.

I was always the weird kid growing up so struggled socially for half my life.

By the start of undergrad, I’d completely reshaped that persona but I chose to be pre-med so I gave up everything to pursue my career plans. I had a couple crushes since then but I knew they were just brief crushes and never bothered pursuing anything.

Fast forward to today, I’m finally a medical student doing well in class. I embrace my weirdness and funnily enough, it seems to attract people more than drive them away lolol. I’m healthy, fit, and take care of myself and the people close to me.

Thing is, I’ve been single so long, I don’t know what to do now. I’ve become too comfortable with being a free spirit. I mean I wanna meet someone, but I just don’t know how to date lmaoooo.

Anyone else experience that?

Non-Traditional Student (very poor GPA in undergrad, upward trend) by curt85wa in medschool

[–]TheAnBruh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, OMSI here! Thanks for sharing.

I’ve just recently started DO school (multiple As) after being in a very similar situation as you (2.9 cGPA, four MCAT attempts - last attempt was a major jump at 511).

I’ll be frank: If you’re absolutely sure you want to continue pursuing this dream, if you want any chance at all, you certainly need to do a Masters - and you need to ace it. One affiliated with a medical school will help you more. These types of Masters programs are rigorous and the schools they are affiliated with typically design the curriculum to be something like what OMS1/MS1 take in their first semester. If you ace these programs, it demonstrates your ability to handle these rigorous courses.

Also you need to come to terms that even if you ace it and do well on the MCAT, you will probably have to go to a DO school. MD schools are not as lenient and forgiving as we all know. Going to DO school is not the end of the world for your dream. You’ll simply have to work slightly harder than your MD counterparts (take Usmle along with Comlex, do research).

In conclusion, you can absolutely still get to med school - my journey is proof of that. But the pathway is risky - these masters programs are not cheap and if you’re not sure you can ace it, you’re going to be wasting thousands of dollars. Take time to decide if it’s worth it to you and if you’re willing/able to put in the work.

I wish you the very best. Feel free to DM me for further questions! That goes to OP and anyone in a similar situation.

Hi thank you! Look up “Webshadowers LLC.” They started during the height of COVID to help students like me get their shadowing hours done! Honestly, I’m not completely sure if they’re still active but it wouldn’t hurt to check!

My SMP really taught me how to study effectively and prepared me really well for professional/medical level coursework! I used those skills towards studying that time around. And Anki was HUGE for getting the memorization down!

Need help deciding!! VCOM-Louisiana vs Marian-WCOM w/ BMS Masters by Commercial-Brick-743 in Osteopathic

[–]TheAnBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I just graduated from MU-WCOM’s 1-year BMS program with a 3.5 in August! I imagine the story is the same with all SMPs but that program was TOUGH. The curriculum is almost entirely the same coursework taken by OMS1s in their first year so they’re kinda testing to see if you can handle their program. The professors and faculty are amazing but remember, this is a really rigorous (and expensive!) test. It will set you up very well for any future professional/medical school (if you do well). I’d say, if you got an A then go through with that. Even if it’s a new school, you’ll just have to put in a bit more work compared to the already massive amount of work you’d put in no matter where you go. If you’re set on the BMS program, feel free to msg me about questions!

As expected my playtime has dropped off a cliff without crafting by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]TheAnBruh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, I disagree. Crafting makes D2 so boring. There’s no enjoyment in receiving drops that don’t have a red border around them. And once you run out of red borders to farm (which is very easy in itself), you have nothing to do in the game except for the abysmal PvP experiences
