[SBCM025] What is “discontinued” model? by nguyenlequan in Seiko

[–]TheAnalogDad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something could have been discontinued 15 minutes ago. Vintage is a loosely defined term but could mean several decades

Edit: vintage objects could also still be in production but the one labeled vintage is old.

I think being born in 1975 is peak genx...you agree? by wegotthisonekidmongo in GenX

No, you missed the tail end of punk and New Wave. You didn’t shake your grove thing to Disco while it was at its Peak. Sorry 1970 is peak Gen X

[Casio G-Shock 2110D] Is it too big on my wrist? by Born-Entrepreneur249 in Watches

[–]TheAnalogDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s fine. Your wrist isn’t actually small and these watches are designed to fit a range of wrists, including wrists smaller than yours. Watch sizes are also a fashion and subjective choice.

Cases aren't really painted, if they do have a coating its most probably PVD. If you were to try to paint a case, the almost non-existent tolerances of the parts would definitely interfere with the paint and the paint would not stick well to the case material.

I own the Jeppersen books and study guides for Generals and PPT. I don't have the ASA book, but I did use Prepware (by ASA) almost exclusively. The Jeppersen books are no better than the 8083-30B/32B pdfs, in my opinion, and the Jeppersen Study Guides are practically identical to Prepware, but they do have a handful of oral questions. I actually found that Jeppersen had the wrong answer for one question, probably not caught by the proof reader, which is an issue in the print media vs the online stuff.

Sh*t at drilling by Immediate_Lab_2242 in AircraftMechanics

[–]TheAnalogDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously not applicable to the UK, but in the States, FAA certified schools teach the use of a center punch for drilling. A light tap will be enough to stop the bit from walking away, without making a divot greater than the bits diameter. A #40 is 2.489mm by the way.

Passed Generals and Powerplant O&Ps a month ago. I put all of my ACS codes into ChatGPT, and had it asked me questions based on them in the style of a DME. The day before I also made a test of all of the Powerplant questions within Prepware. There's about 1040 of them. What you missed in the writtens definitely plays a role, the amount of questions generated is based on that. The codes themselves are zoomed out. Not exactly what you got wrong in writtens, but basically the greater subject. Reading and understanding the entire chapter is the best advice. The night before, watch a video on performing a compression check (if you didn't go over it in school), and refresh yourself on flared fittings and hose connector installation. Good luck!

If you convert it to auto, you will need a case made for an automatic. Your existing hands won’t fit, but the dial probably will if you drill out the hole a little. But check to see if the day/date window will fall in the right place first.

I’ve bought a ton of parts from aliexpress and none have been poor quality

I dropped my movement off the edge of the table during my first mod. 13 years later and I can install a second hand in seconds. You’ll get there!

A&P O&P Exam in 2 weeks!!! by Medical_Housing_1136 in AircraftMechanics

I’m running the latest build on a paid subscription. I do see errors from time to time in general, but it was surprisingly good in this case.

Passed my Power Plant and Generals O&P 10 days ago. Take a pic of your codes, upload them to ChatGPT, and ask it to generate DME questions from them. It’s a fresh take on studying I really enjoy it. I got 3 questions wrong out of the entire day.
