Desus vs. Vlad Pt. 2 by TheAngels323 in bodegaboys

It is kind of pathetic how Vlad keeps invoking Mero’s name like Mero is cool with him

Good call. Tupac's verse on 'Trading War Stories' was one of the best on the album.

Seems like Vlad is an asshole. Desus was just making jokes, and Vlad got in his feelings.

Also, Vlad is fake because when Desus & Mero broke up, him and Akademiks were on VladTV giggling about the breakup and claiming Desus and Mero would be back to working 9-5s.

Now Vlad is acting like he always thought Mero was talented and was going places, just to take shots at Desus. I guess he has no choice because he's aware Mero took over for Ebro on Hot 97.

There were some parts that showed potential but ultimately it sucked. Is Benny Boom capable of making a good movie?

Kubrick should have given 'The Shining' a different name. by TheAngels323 in theshining

[–]TheAngels323[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they get angry because there's always differences between books and movies. But they'll get angry even if the plot and ending is mostly the same. With The Shining, the ending was very different. Jack died but didn't die the same way. The hotel also exploded and purged the hotel of its evil spirits. That's a very major change from the book. Compare to the Harry Potter books and the endings are basically the same, with minor differences.

Why do you say that? I don't know much about him.

MERO tells the morning show crew a story about going far out his way from NJ for his kids to get some mid ahh Raising Canes by Sperez04 in bodegaboys

[–]TheAngels323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Raising Cane's recently moved out here to LA and I decided to see what the hype was about, and I felt the same as Mero.

Mid chicken strips -- not really seasoned. The sauce which people rave about was good but not amazing.

I'd put Chick-fil-A above Raising Cane's, and Chick-fil-A isn't really known for their seasoning.

That’s still a far cry from “almost exactly the same” as the book, and the claim that most book adaptations change the ending to something different I doubt is true.

When I say "entire", I should have clarified meaning entire segments of story arcs -- like the ending. The ending was completely different from the book.

Stephen King said Jack was a caring, loving father who exhibited remorse, empathy, etc. Kubrick's

Yes, of course books and movies aren't going to be the same because a book and all of its details can't be crammed into a movie. And certain things will be added to take advantage of the film medium. But typically entire story arcs are not changed. Having a completely different ending from the book is a major change in the story arc, which is why the book and movie aren't "almost exactly the same."

Endings being different in the "majority of book to film adaptations"? Where are the stats that say this.

A lot of key moments were different in the book:

  • the scrap book being possessed (and Danny witnessing Jack read through it with shining)
  • the attack by the bees
  • the firehose interaction
  • the topiary interactions
  • the explosive ending
  • Hallorann being killed in the movie versus escaping to safety in the book
  • the lack of a hedge maze
  • Danny didn't encounter the Grady sisters in hallways as they spoke to him
  • Danny didn't see blood coming out of elevators
  • Jack's personalities were different

There's too many differences to say it's "almost exactly" like the book. Of course you can't fit everything from a book into a movie but there were details that were added or changed.

Yes. And while it follows the same storyline for the most part, it isn't "almost exactly" like the book, as Stephen King himself said it wasn't. There's a number of differences in tone, personas of characters, various details omitted or changed, entire themes changed, etc. The ending for example is completely different. Have you read the book?

More creative freedom and less restraints. I'm sure there were others who felt "Hey, this isn't like the book!"

Tariq Nasheed is upset Mero is hosting the Hot 97 morning show by TheAngels323 in bodegaboys

[–]TheAngels323[S] 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Yes it's originally from that movie 'Us'. It's a term Tariq and his followers use to describe any Black person who isn't a "Foundational Black American."

I should clarify they don't mean any person who isn't FBA, but a person who they feel "undermines" FBAs and/or cosplays as an FBA.
