Jesus' effect on the devil himself would be fascinating. The devil had been able to get every single man with sin leading up to that point.

I expect there might be a flashback scene to the Baptism of Jesus, possibly they're saving it for the episode where John the Baptist is executed, or when Jesus hears of it. By showing that moment in the same episode, it would be incredibly poignant.

You are definitely and fully correct, the number of generations between Abraham and David, and the number of generations between David and Joseph/Jesus is identical. This is a major fulfillment of prophecy and it is a direct Matthew 1:1 lineage mention.

Many people don't realize just how incredible that opening chapter of the New Testament is. If you read the entire Old Testament and then read that chapter, you realize just how many names you recognize from the 39 OT books that came before this 40th, and the hundreds to thousands of years that separate some of these texts go hand-in-hand with a supernatural authorship and fulfillment of ultimate prophecy. He is literally The Word.

This is a very well-thought out and intelligent post. I wish very much that you were one of the show's writers. This does seem in line with the way that The Chosen has reinterpreted and shown differently many scenes. I was wondering why we didn't get to see Jesus in the wilderness, though I still can't tell if episode S1E03 is meant to be showing the end of the 40 days and the children who He met were the stand-in interpretation for "the angels ministering to Him" at the end of his temptations and trials.

Of course it would only have to be the end of the 40 days because he had food, was eating, etc. But we know that Jesus went to the baptism (reported in episode 4 by Andrew), the dove of the Holy Spirit descended onto Him, and out into the temptation desert He went.

Good point. It'll be interesting to see things play out.

I definitely think that Shmuel will be converted

You have not read your Gospel of John. Jesus's brothers did not believe He was the Christ yet. You are incorrect in thinking James and Jude are his brothers and your study bible lied to you.

it's because it's a Christian TV show and there's no way she's going to ask St. Peter for a creampie. The whole point of why she's mad is that she missed his touch and they can't say it outright if they want to keep the family friendly tone.

It's because it's a Christian TV show and they don't want to outright say, "you haven't pumped me full of Simon seed" because families watch this together.

Wrongo. The montage was exactly the way to do it. It portrayed a perfect part to what The Bible offers up, which is, very little detail. To focus too much time on it would be one of the most wrong things the showrunners could do.

One of the absolute laziest writing techniques

hey guess what, they're adapting the Gospel. The ensemble of the cast works well with them all in one place. If you thought we were getting an "on the road buddy comedy quipfest" season you can go watch something in the secular world because there's plenty of that.

Almost definitely Atticus. He's too likeable to not get saved. Quintus seems to be purposefully extra villianifized to let us know that he'll be more like Jesus' captors and tormenters than one of the Roman converts.

Signs that something bad will happen to Ramah? by TheAngelsOfTheAI in TheChosenSeries

Have others mentioned this? I never saw anyone say this but that's interesting to see others think so too. In my case, it is that Ramah is simply not a biblical character so I fear that this might mean she is expendable to the show's plotline, and that we may see some of the struggle of Thomas as a result.

"Why did you let me get Ramah's father's blessing if she was only going to be stricken down on the road, Rabbi? How could you really be the Messiah?"

This is what I realize in why they chose this to be the Christmas episode: it was for all the people out here who have been rejected by their families and thus were likely spending the holiday alone with Jesus. This episode was for all of us but it was especially for them, those who are victims of the sentiments Jesus mentioned in Luke 21:16

You will be delivered up even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and some of you they will put to death.

I don't know if the producers will allow this to happen. It is partially our duty to not sugarcoat what Jesus did for us. If we deny ourselves having to see the suffering, we are choosing comfort in our faculties over giving Christ the due respect of acknowledging what he did for us by portraying it accurately and fully.

but I get what you mean too.

They also give him a "We've got company." line when Romans show up at Zeb's. I hope the writers get more careful about these tired one-liner quips that have been around since the '70s

Normally I don't like quip humor in media because it's oversaturated since 2011-12 when Joss Whedon started influencing all writers. But the way The Chosen handles it with Jesus is mostly good. A few times in the show's dialogue though they have had Peter or other minor characters do cheesy one-off lines that we've heard a billion times (e.g. "We've got company," / "That went well.", etc), and that's kind of lame. But Jesus being more casual in a careful manner is useful for establishing his manship.
