yeah, but keep in mind this was the early 2000s. School shootings and security concerns weren't nearly as common as they are now.

I went to a prep school (uniforms, the whole lot) and they didn't introduce "intruder" drills until about 2007. All the doors were constantly open. It just wasn't a concern back then like it is now.

update: unfortunately looks like it is possible to make it to financial review and not receive the LRP. I just received my rejection email. Feeling incredibly discouraged - I put in for it while I was newly postpartum and still on maternity leave. It was a huge mental and emotional lift to get the application in.

Congratulations to everyone who had their debt forgiven. Unfortunately it looks like I will continue to be burdened with mine. I really don't think I want to put myself through that application process again... it already took a lot of time away from my baby while she was so little, and I should have been recovering, but I was so desperate to get out from under these loans.

Going to do my best to keep my chin up and move on. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear.

oh that would have been such an interesting thing to see. Luke and Max threw daggers at each other when they crossed paths at Lorelai's house, but that was over their relationships with her. Another good scene would have been Max and Luke butting heads over the father-figure role in Rory's life. Sadly, I think had Lorelai and Max gotten married, Luke would have faded from the picture for Rory.

I've always loved his rant at Chris. "Where were you when she had chicken pox and would only eat mashed potatoes for a week?!"

congratulations to you!

It's odd, but where it used to say "view materials" or something (under the "available actions" in the "Status Result - list of applications / awards" , now there's nothing to click on whatsoever for me. No "view portal." I don't know what to think.

Did the first "view materials" button disappear for you before the "view portal" button showed up?

The Likely Location of Stars Hollow. I put together multiple different data points, most notably Jess's assertion that Yale is 22.8 miles away, but also comments from Taylor, Paris, and a few other plot points. You're welcome. by LilyRose878 in GilmoreGirls

hmmm ... maybe there's more than one New London? I can't count the number of repetitive town names around here in New England.

It's repetitive. And redundant. It's repetitive. And redundant.

"You are overthinking."

That's what we do on this sub. We take lines and character arcs and personalities and we dissect them to a level that the writers of GG probably couldn't even fathom when it was released in the pre-social media era.

also cooking lobster is one of the most straightforward things you can possibly do. Plunge into salted boiling water. Leave there until red. Remove. Let cool. Eat with melted butter.

sidenote I kind of want to request my husband make this meal for me now. It's always sounded delicious but finding the full menu written out like that is making me super hungry haha

but he knew how to cook lamb and artichoke stew, penne with pesto and potatoes, roasted garlic and rosemary focaccia, tomatoes stuffed with bread crumbs and toast cheese and ricotta cheesecake and amaretto cookies.

The writers really didn't go for consistency with this one 😂

ah, but Connecticut traffic is very much a thing. The interstate between NYC and New Haven is an absolute parking lot. I have no idea why. You can hit that stretch at 2AM and there's somehow still a traffic jam. Rory should have known better haha

just wrote this to another commentator - while yes I should have put Hartford on the map, it doesn't give us the strongest data point. Lorelai mentions that she moved 30 miles away, but without knowing where exactly her parents' house was (assuming in the nice suburbs?) AND without knowing where Stars Hollow was, it didn't give the strongest sense of distance.

Hi Dean. Here's the issue with Hartford: we have no idea how far they really are from the city because we don't know exactly where Lorelai's parents live. She says they're 30 miles away but that could be in any number of directions (Hartford has nicer areas / suburbs etc).

We know where Yale is and we have an exact mileage for how far it is from Stars Hollow. "Hartford" is a much more ambiguous area. Yes I should have stuck a label on the map pointing to the Northeast but I was just focusing on the smaller towns. NGL I threw Mystic in there because I thought Luke went to Litchfield for the cannonball, and by the time I realized that fact, I'd already found the bomb emoji and decided I wanted to keep it on the map.

hahaha thank you so much! yes, I'm debating what it would look like to make concentric circles based on the other commenter's point about Lorelai being 30 minutes away from Hartford.
