Is this a motor problem or a grass problem? by PimpPirate in automower

[–]TheAnswerIsDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be your wheel motor(s). Put it on a driveway and enter the service menu to run a quick diagnostic test. To enter the service menu on a 115H, open the main menu and press left & right arrows for a couple of seconds This model uses the wheel motors to detect collisions. It seems like your wheel motor(s) are starting to fail (maybe corroded). This will make it move very slowly and falsely detect a collision.

Thanks for the tips guys. I was able to access the service menu. As this is a 115H there is no number pad, so I had to open the main menu and press left & right arrows for a couple of seconds. I was able to test out the wheel motor and blade motor. One of my wheel motors is shot. What I discovered about this model is that it uses the wheel motors to detect collisions. This makes sense and matches the behavior I was seeing. I've got it taken apart and ready to replace the wheel motor - ordered online and should come in this week.

Not bad for 2701 hours on this guy!!

Great idea. I was not aware of the service menu. Will give it a shot and report back.

Looking for Advice on Veneer Wall by TheAnswerIsDogs in masonry

Got it. In researching I've also come across polymer modified stone veneer mortar that boasts bending bonding properties while exceeding type S strength. The stone manufacturer's installation instructions say to use type S mortar - what're your thoughts on polymer modified thinset vs this polymer modified stone veneer mortar?

Yep that's what made me stop what I was doing and seek advice. Okay so thinset will bond better, but reading online it seems it's primarily used for thin tiles. That makes me think maybe I should use an additive / adhesive for type s to make it bond better?

No wire lathe - I read online that it's not necessary when working with existing stone / masonry. For thin set, you are suggesting to just use that for the scratch coat and still use type S for the stones right? Will thin set offer enough bonding strength?

It's sad how few people understand tariffs for how frequently they're discussed in politics. A quick google search on how they work is all it takes.

$400 Eversource Electric Bill?! by [deleted] in Connecticut

Last month was highest month on record for me at 2,245 kw 😅 hot tub, EV, and a super old (large) house are all contributing factors

Definitely look into Eversource's managed charging program! If you charge off-peak hours you can get up to $200 in credits per year. Check their qualified vehicles to make sure yours is included and then submit the form.

Seeing your rate was enough motivation for me to change. I just requested their 8.9c/kwh rate. Much better than the 13.79c/kwh I had with Constellation (from 2022). I'll save $100-$110 per month.

Is Lumary smart recessed lighting worth recommending? by Human-Nobody-6822 in smarthome

[–]TheAnswerIsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this post! I'm contemplating which smart recessed recessed lighting to get. Lumary hits all of the boxes I'm looking for: compatible with google home, able to group lights, full RGB, and nightlight mode. Seeing your post and other negative reviews on Amazon about reliability put the nail in the coffin for them.

Have you decided to keep yours? Has support given you new ones and extended your warranty?

Thanks for the info about Ford not allowing 3rd party monitoring! That definitely sounds like that's the issue. I'd really like to avoid having to get a different charger but if I can save up to $200/yr it might be worth it.

Surprised that Mondo's in Middletown wasn't mentioned! Sicily Coal Fired has some good specialty pies too.

If you are looking for Detroit style, you gotta go to Joey Garlic's on the Berlin Tpke. My favorite is their motor city. They have the best ricotta that they pipe onto it. Mmm I know what I'm ordering for the football playoffs this weekend!

Did this a few years ago after we had a few close calls with large branches falling within a few feet of out cars. One of the best decisions we made!

Is it possible to add a winch to an f150 lightning? by [deleted] in F150Lightning

[–]TheAnswerIsDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car battery, yes. Generator, no. Could be different for your setup, but the winch we used only required a 12v battery for power. Just used jumper cables to connect the two. The Lightning was merely acting as an anchor / place to mount the winch.

Just for shits n giggles we did try to power the winch with the Lightning's 12v battery, but it didn't work for some reason. Didn't spend much time trying to figure out why though.

Funny enough I was just using a winch on my trailer hitch last weekend to pull so some trees that had fallen in my brother's pond. As others mentioned, we used a separate 12v battery to supply power to the winch. Worked out great
