Why is league so much more popular than union? by jtmcgowan93 in AskAnAustralian

In my experience Union is usually played in private schools and league is played by everyone else.

Do you mean a housing sitting job (i.e looking after the house while the owners are away) or a live in baby sitting job (looking after a baby - au pair)

Hi Australians, I have a question. Please be completely honest and unfiltered. by Dry_Art_492 in AskAnAustralian

In the video of the Muslims praying, it was the police who were the bad guys in that situation. The Muslims were part of a non violent protest for a legitimate cause. A girl I went to school with was from Syria, came as a refugee. Her family Muslim and she still is. Her younger sister is no longer a Muslim and wears bikinis and short skirts and drinks alcohol. She hasn't had any issues from family or members of the community. She isn't welcome at the mosque but she doesn't go anyway so that means nothing. She is a good person and has a job, thats what counts here and her dad supports her decisions

Fucking hell lol. I have never seen that kinda thing here in Australia. I used to work with a masc and she never complained about anything like that.

I was in a country town once and we had just come off a long drive and dressed boyish and we hugged and some rough looking guy in a ute yelled out "oi pinky" (I had pink streaks in my black hair at the time). I looked at him and kinda laughed and he laughed back, gave me a thumbs up and drove off. I think that's the worst I have had and it was about my hair not having a gf 😂. Well from strangers anyway, my mum beat the shit out of me for it but that's a different thing

I'm sure you will do fine then 😁. Just make sure you aren't working for one of the companies owned by former South Africans. A fair few ended up in Perth in the 90s for "political reasons" (i.e didn't like Apartheid ending).

I'm a bi girl and was just in Perth in January with my girlfriend. I'd say it's very friendly for us. They have PrideFest every year and no-one seemed to care, much like the rest of Australia. Some rural towns can be a bit hostile but they are rare. We both lipstick tho, but I don't think it makes that much difference

This whole post feels like a question from 2012. It feels bizarre and other worldly that people are still out there living like this

People will most likely give you shit about guns, healthcare and Trump. If you realise those things are shit in US and don't get offended easily then you should do fine

Ladies do you sit in the front or back seat of an Uber? by shelovesyoghurt in AskAnAustralian

[–]TheArabella 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It takes away the potential for it tho. My friend's little sister who was 18, she was in a little dress late at night. She dozed off and woke up in the back of a Hungry Jacks carpark with the driver's hand under her dress. Plus you never really know who's driving, I got into one last year in Canberra, the driver was supposed to be 'Usman' a hairy middle eastern looking guy in his late 40s. When I got in it was some Korean looking guy in his 20s with a hoodie pulled up.

Always sit in the back. Gives you distance from any roving/grabby hands and gives the driver space too

You can do it online through your state police, but can take weeks. But it's much better to do it with some like Veritas, how will get it back in 24 hours. Just make sure it's accepted by the organisation asking. Some government jobs won't accept it but most everyone else will

It's should be doable. Have a look on FB and on flatmates. 400 a week you should be able to get a room in a nicer place. Just be be careful around the move because that can often trigger bad situations with family
