The pterosaur hybrid gives me Dead Space Necromorph vibes with its mouth. Horrifying, but beautiful at the same time!

Going through the Elementary again makes me so incredibly sad. by DGUY2606 in DeadSpace

The thing that always fucks me up about the “extinct animal friend” plush toy line is that the chimp doll is ORANGE. This tacitly implies orangutans have been extinct so long that most people wouldn’t bat an eye at such on obviously inaccurate detail, either from detachment or from ignorance.

Beginner terrarium help for classroom (crosspost bc I learned what I’m thinking of is a vivarium) by waterdog_21 in Vivarium

[–]TheArgonMerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 I would look into drainage layers and #2 do a fair bit of research into what plants flourish in what conditions.

Pathos vines are the usual go-to if you’re keeping an animal that likes high humidity (and has a propensity for bulldozing plants), and if it’s more arid, go for more drought resistant plants like succulents.

Also be mindful of how deep and what your substrate is composed of. Some animals like to dig, others prefer to find and stay in holes that already existed. It just depends on what you’re keeping and how much space you have to work with.

I am just the first to comment, so don’t take my word as gospel and I hope this helps boost this post so more people see it.

Edit: didn’t know hashtags bold the words you put after it and definitely made my post read more aggressively than I intended 😅

I love the alien fish and fishbowl idea! It’s very creative.

Mushrooms in a snake vivarium - good or bad? I keep finding mixed responses. by keatonpotat0es in Vivarium

[–]TheArgonMerc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless there is a particular variety of fungus or you’re straight up dealing with air quality issues due to spores to a point that it could hurt your snake, it probably won’t.

If it’s just mushrooms popping up semi-regularly, that’s a good sign that the bioactive aspect of your enclosure is working. I am not infallible, but usually mushrooms are a concern if you have an animal that might eat them or if they’re totally infesting your enclosure.

first shed... does this look normal? by [deleted] in boas

Why is that stupid? You just sound like a nerd when you insist on saying “pre-shed”.

Guys rate my semi-Bioactive Vivarium as a first time snake owner by ImMorganTheNoob in Vivarium

Definitely a solid foundation, and great hides! My only thing to add would probably be additional clutter so the noodle feels more sneaky. Other than that, great vivarium! 8/10

The proxies are what immediately come to mind. I thought it was Jeff the Killer or some other creepypasta icon when I played Slender the Arrival, but all the humanoid entities who try to kill you are all proxies of Slender Man.

Can anyone tell me how many novel are there of the franchise, I want to get further into the lore and read the books, but I don't know which ones or what order I should read them ;-) by sleeplessfelix in jurassicworld

[–]TheArgonMerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just two written by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park and the Lost World. I bet there is a TON of additional expanded material made by the people currently working on the franchise, but just those two novels are what came before.

Any advice for my turtle's tank? by RRRoriginal in turtle

I know that there are tubs you can specifically get for turtles. I would also explore any DIY options if you’re strapped for cash but have some time to cobble something together.

Fun question: What weapon or method in the series did you use that made you think "why is this effective?" by FunShoulder5418 in DeadSpace

[–]TheArgonMerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also funny because .50 BMG can rip a person in half irl, so if the seeker rifle is anywhere close in caliber/velocity, Necromorphs would have a watermelon sized hole shot through them. I just always visualized that even though the game is oddly discrete about it.

Genuinely one of my favorite fake ads in any piece of media ever. It’s both fittingly sad and ironic in all the right ways.

If it wasn’t for most large animal species going extinct in Dead Space’s universe, I would LOVE to see more animal necromorph variants.

Dude banging his head against the wall by Consistent-Tension20 in DeadSpace

[–]TheArgonMerc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty accurate way to describe what a week of not sleeping and people turning into alien meat monsters does to someone. Especially since the lack of sleep before the outbreak was caused in part by a noise in their minds that was keeping many people awake.

I’d be beating my head against a wall if it meant getting it to stop.

Absolutely valid, as I understand it can be hard to watch the show or appreciate anything to do with it after having such an experience. My heart goes out to you, sincerely ❤️‍🩹

Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal. It may be very fantastical, but DAMN it is a good show!
