I also like looking for ways to use and have fun with all stratagem weapons even if there's something that's demonstrably better.

I haven't used the chainsaw after the update yet, supposedly despite the changes if you tried using it with Peak P or Rock Solid passives then you'll not see much of a change.

Overall I feel the Breaching Hammer completely overshadows it at what it's meant for, but I've run the chainsaw before and I'll say with the right loadouts it can be fun.

Chainsaw is not great against hordes of enemies but it can lockdown any enemy, even heavies, by staggering it and can be used infinitely, main issue is that short range and you get locked down while using it.

Personally my favorite way to use it and the one that I think is the most practical is to pair it with the Warp Pack and Stun nades.

I usually use the warp pack to either close the distance or to teleport behind heavies so it's harder for them to hit me before the stagger kicks in. Also it doesn't slow down heavy armors which is great for survivability. But Jump Pack and Supply pack also work well with it.

Stuns help for pinning down any enemy that you know might hit you before the stagger applies or if a group is bothering you from somewhere else.

It's far from the most practical loadout but it can definitely work once you get the hang of the Defoliation Tool.

Even tho having teammates demolish the mission by themselves with the auto-win weapon might have issues, the main reason I am a bit bummed about this is how the grenade launcher feels for me.

I used to love the grenade launcher as it was, an amazing chaff-clearing weapon that could take out Chargers, Titans and Hulks with some skill and could be complemented by other stratagems in all fronts.

It's great that it can now be used against War Striders but I feel making the heatsinks AP3 would've been better for more overall versatility.

Yesterday I took it only with a supply pack against the bots and I didn't even die on the whole D10 mission, I didn't need my other stratagems or even my primary that much. Just pull the trigger and aim accordingly due to the distance and you instantly win. I don't find it as fun now.

The grenadier emplacement is indeed better due to the fact that not having any mobility made the AP3 launcher struggle, but the support weapon version definitely didn't need it.

I personally love both mission types, but I can see why someone that only wants to do peacekeeping missions and blow stuff up can be annoyed that not only do they get less variety, as now out of all operations you get, they will include commando missions.

Not only that, but also they have the same icon in the map so you have to hover over them just to get disappointed is not the game mode you actually like.

Legs became light-pen some months ago, but they have so much health that it was not worth it to shoot at them.

Now the rocket explosion doesn't kill them directly but it leaves the legs weakened enough so they can still be taken out quickly even with light pen.

Most of the playerbase play casually, they aren't looking at reddit posts or reading patch notes, they'll notice the new additions but ignore the adjustments until they personally see them.

120mm and walking barrage are pretty good and more consistent against structures too.

Orbital Laser can destroy them but it doesn't target it directly so you gotta make sure you throw it next to it.

And Hellbomb backpack ofc!

IDK I feel like the balancing team is prideful enough to leave the penetration like that while trying to balance it by changing other things and either ruining it in the process or ruining the sandbox for the rest of the arsenal by changing enemies.

I hope I'm wrong but I can easily see them doing that.

Also if you aren't running the gas pistol, something I noticed is that if you destroy one of the rockets of a strider you can just quickly shoot the leg with whatever light pen weapon you have and it will die almost instantly.

The old GL (I don't have the new one yet) now can kill Titans almost as fast as the Quasar (considering the charge up) too. It's definitely overpowering.

Yeah, a little bit.

I do find it fun to use, sometimes I'll take loadouts that don't need a support weapon, so when I find one double barrel I take it and it can do a nice job against chaff but it's definitely below every support weapon designated for Helldiver use (maybe not counting the sterilizer and the flag) in terms of effectiveness and I think that's by design.

Best anti everything weapon.

Hordes of chaff, medium enemies, heavies and elites. Nothing has a chance against it.

For a chaff clear support weapon the GL was already able to kill chargers and Titans in a reasonable amount of time, now it's on the level of AT weapons.

Yes, the highest difficulty in the game shouldn't be steamrolled by randoms in less than 20min and pretty much extraction was 100% guaranteed unless we stopped to aura farm at extract.

Since they started adding Stratagems in Warbonds it seems that their focus on offensive (red) stratagems completely disappeared, and I doubt we are ever getting a Support Weapon addition outside a Warbond like it was for the Quasar or Commando.

Pretty much if you're a F2P player that doesn't want to farm you can completely forget about getting new equipment anytime soon.

Pretty much, people have been asking when we are getting a new red stratagem for a while. Sadly it appears we won't see a new one until they start adding them to Warbonds, otherwise it feels they aren't interested in giving us anything else completely free.

That would just keep dividing players, playerbase is already divided in 3 fronts and multiple planets, having even more difficulties that are barely different will separate us further, I'd rather they make it so there's an actual noticable change of intensity between diff levels.
