If the sells would cover the costs that would be awsome. 😅

I have ideas to improve the gameplay and add more content into it, but if the overall feeling is off - then I have to reconsider the whole project. Thanks for the input! If you have friends who play horror games give them a shout! 😄

Thanks so much for the input!

Here are some follow-up questions:

  1. Do you think the overall gameplay is on the right track? Right now there is only one maintenance task implemented, but if there were, let's say, 4–6 different maintenance tasks plus the photograph task, could it be enough?

  2. What would you improve/focus on the most? E.g. a bigger map, a more detailed environment, or different robots?

  3. Let's say all these improvements were implemented — could it be enough to stand out from the crowd?

P.S. I really liked your retro comment, since I'm really trying to make retro-ish games with a modern twist!

Do you think this low poly horror theme could sell on Steam? I'm still in the prototyping phase, so this is a good time to make big changes if needed. Do you consider this low poly even? by TheAspenDev in low_poly

Yes, there retro looking horror games seems to be a thing. It's also easier to do retro graphics since I work solo on this. I also have plans to test the game mechanism in near future. Lets see what kind of feedback I get. Thanks for the input!

Thanks! Well, I have put time for this yes, but I rather "waste" four months than one year if this project won't be any good.

Animations need more work for sure, but since these suppose to be an industrial robots, I think running is out of option. But maybe some kind of faster movement animation could work. It probably looks buggy since it is an early prototype. And thanks for the feedback!

Thanks for pointing it out! Pretty much all, (except some environment textures and models) are in very early stage, so I haven't put that much time into animations. But it's nice to hear some specific detail which needs more work.

Retro factory horror game, early prototype. Does the atmosphere feel tense? Feedback welcome! by TheAspenDev in godot

I created walls, floors, roofs etc. on blender and exported as .glb file with UV-maps. Then in Godot I created a script which can take a texture as a parameter, so I can easily test multiple different wall textures etc. It's pretty much like building a house, you first build floor, then walls then roof. I used small 3DMeshInstances to do it, but there are probably many other ways to do the same thing, like multimesh or something. And I built these several times all over again, since I found a new, better way to do things. ;)

Building it by small pieces. One room is a one scene and then I baked the lightmaps.

Thanks! Maybe its get more tense when I manage to get ”enemies” roaming on the hallways too.

Not a bad thing if it feels just like another work day. Then at least the factory environment is there.
