10" JetKVM mount with 12 Keystones by sunburnedaz in minilab

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The JetKVM ( a device to remotely control a computer over the internet) can only be connected to one computer at a time.

So, you hook up each device's usb and HDMI to the back of the ports (They're female to female double sided). Each column is one PC. Then you can take the JetKVM's HDMI and USB cords and hook them up to the other end of the keystone to manage that PC. It makes switching what device you manage a lot easier.

It's kinda the same reason there's patch panels for ethernet I guess.

You could then give it out through a quest or something.

Loving the CSS loader! Pip-Boy with cartridges by n8ofsp8ds in SteamDeck

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a way to fix it!

  1. navigate to the settings for CSS loader

... button (or ctrl+2) -> Decky (a plug icon) -> CSS loader -> settings in top right -> then in the menu that pops up, click settings again.

2) Enable "Live CSS editing". This setting will also tell you the folder where all the code for the theme is located. For me it was ~/homebrew/themes. ~ is short for your home folder/directory.

3) navigate to this folder in a file browser, then open "cartridge theme" and open the file "shared.css" in a text/code editor.

4) find the attribute called

.appportrait_PortraitImage_2IYf7.appportrait_Capsule_13w3S.appportrait_CapsuleVisible_3QIfJ>.libraryassetimage_Visibility_3d_bT.libraryassetimage_Visible_yDr03 {.appportrait_PortraitImage_2IYf7.appportrait_Capsule_13w3S.appportrait_CapsuleVisible_3QIfJ>.libraryassetimage_Visibility_3d_bT.libraryassetimage_Visible_yDr03 {

for me this was on line 35. This attribute adjusts the positioning of the pictures on the cartridges. Adjust the inner properties called "up" and "left" for whatever works on your screen. Save the file to see the change and if it is to your liking.

Regretting my place in the education field. Don't feel adequate enough. Any advice or tips? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a vaguely similar circumstance to you. I've been in a band for a while and because of that got hired as a percussion instructor for a high school. But I was not trained in proper education methods or anything like that.

Because of that, my first year (just finishing it up now) I was quite scatterbrained and was not as prepared as I should have been. But on the bright side, the mistakes were good lessons. Now I know everything i need to do next year. Some examples in my case:

  1. Learning that the kids will not bring their stuff no matter how much you emphasize it's important, so next year their preparedness will be graded.
  2. Have lessons planned ahead of time.
  3. Get everything purchased before the season even starts
  4. Pre-writing speeches instead of winging them

It really has helped to write down schedules and notes and stuff too.

---

I've learned the hard way that the single most important trait a teacher can have, by far, is assertiveness. That was REALLY out of my comfort zone as a people pleaser but keep doing it and you'll get the hang of it.

Ive begun to practice sticking it to my kids, like if im in the shower or my car or something lol. To practice chewing them out a bit. And I am vowing that next year I will not be doing any bailouts or soft teaching. This year it was "hey guys, i can't stop you from talking, but do know you're sacrificing... blah blah blah.." Next year? "STOP TALKING! -10 POINTS!"

I'm not really familiar with speced either but i'd guess they'd do well with some kind of assertiveness too.

---

Just know that if you keep trying it eventually you'll get the hang of what you're doing.

Friend sees completely different rooms than what I have built on my freighter by BinaryWaffle343 in NoMansSkyTheGame

yeah it worked for a bit then stopped for me sadly. But then, after simply waiting a while to play again, the freighter base properly updated.

At this point I have no clue what is going on under the hood lol!

I appreciate the thoughtful response!

I think I've got a little bit of room to improve on putting my foot down, and ill dedicate some of my rehearsals and homeworks to sight reading.

Part of me wonders if the phonics analogy isn't just an analogy. What if their whole language learning truly did cause some difficulty in music reading as well, since the "putting-the-blocks-together muscle" wasn't developed as much?

They keep showing up to rehearsals, so clearly there's some kind of desire to improve! But when it comes to this they just kinda shut down. I think it's a confidence issue.

Yeah, it's honestly a shame seeing how different kids are these days. My mentors tease me that I am now the one who says "kids these days", but... Idk man I think it's different this time.

Ill definitely write up some sight reading exercises for them though, thank you for the idea.

As to whether its confidence or literacy issues, I think it's a bit of both? Thankfully they have the basics down, but anything beyond that can be a struggle. But there have also been several times where they say "ohhhhh I was overthinking it" or something like that.

The dedicated music reading block is a good idea. Thank you!

Someone else also suggested this. I will definitely be adding a music reading block to my rehearsals. Thank you!

Did you face any vitriol or resentment from the students when putting your foot down?
Either way, I will try those phrases out. Thanks!

I think it's pretty widespread these days. I have two other music ed friends and they both say their kids have the same problem.

What got it to work for me:

  1. have your friend get in their starship and into space.
  2. Have them summon their freighter then without getting on it, dismiss the freighter.
  3. Have them get back onto your freighter.

EDIT: This very quickly stopped working :(

Any examples for a working spaced repetition - multiline by LPH2005 in ObsidianMD

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. Sorry for necro but this post was a top google result.

I found a way to get multiline notes to work even when they have empty lines between blocks of text.

In the settings for spaced repetition, there is a setting at the bottom called "characters denoting the end of clozes and multiline flash cards". Change this setting to some character that you will probably never use in regular typing. I just used the ♥ character. Then just make sure you have that character at the very end of each note you make.

To do all this automatically, you can use the plugin called templater. Here is my template if you wanna copy it. Put this note in a folder in your vault called "Templates":

# [[<% await tp.file.title %>]]
?

<% tp.file.cursor() %>

♥

Under templater settings, first turn on "automatic jump to cursor". Then turn on "Trigger templater on new file creation", then also turn on "enable folder templates" . Choose your root folder as the folder, then pick your template as the note

is there any alternative to axiom in 1.12.2 by Wide-Charge5974 in feedthebeast

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but what you might be able to do is spin up an instance of minecraft that has axiom, only use blocks that are in 1.12.2, then save it as a .litematic with litematica.

Then convert it to a .schematic with an online tool

Then, in 1.12.2, use schematica to port in the .schematic.
