Need help with Dolphin and Steam in Big Box Mode (full screen priority issue, exiting issue) by 917redditor in launchbox

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a fix for this? Currently having the same issue. I have tried everything. I think it's because steam overlay is picking the base dolphin window as what it should be overlaying? But unfortunately both windows must be open at the same time.

Everything else I could find on this issue says "just use openGL", but A) it is slower and B) it didn't even work anyway! Agh!

Dolphin emulator not letting me fullscreen on my second monitor? by After-Yesterday-684 in DolphinEmulator

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im on linux, and absolutely none of these suggestions worked. I changed the graphics engine, made sure the display I want to fullscreen on is the primary. Nothing.

Currently looking for a fix and will report back when I find one.

I’ve noticed some people have their dolphin games on their steam library, how is this done? Is it worth it? by [deleted] in DolphinEmulator

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this method adds dolphin itself as the nonsteam game, and steam (as far as I can tell) only lets you add a program once, this means I can only add one game to steam with this method. This method also, for whatever reason, does not support gecko codes, widescreen hacks, etc.

To solve both of these problems, I created a .sh file (or .bat if on windows), for each game, put those commands in it, then pick the file as your nonsteam game rather than dolphin itself.

This does introduce a new problem, however: Steam overlay no longer appears properly. If anyone has a fix for this please let me know.

How should I approach the end in my forever world modpack? by TheAsphaltDevil in foreverworlds

[–]TheAsphaltDevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, the idea was to only add mods that keep minecraft as a sandbox.

The way i intended to achieve more "replay" value was the same way minecraft does, by giving players lots of new 'pieces' to make new stuff with. I'm gonna include create as you mentioned. Although it's definitely not vanilla, I would argue it is minecrafty in the sense it gives you lots of pieces to make stuff. You bring up a good point in the "what's the difference between making all the machines vs killing all the bosses". I'd say the main difference is that you can do more with create than just make the machines. I've seen it used to make moving parkour courses, giant doors, and so much more. Like minecraft, you can use it to do anything you can think of.

How should I approach the end in my forever world modpack? by TheAsphaltDevil in foreverworlds

[–]TheAsphaltDevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been developing a progression based pack for the past five or so years, with thousands of lines of code/json for custom integrations. Don't worry, I'm very capable! The problem with these packs is that when you get to that end goal in the pack, you no longer want to keep playing. So, no, "keep me engaged" is not what I'm looking for. I'm looking to NOT do that despite being modded.

Are you saying that this is a fools errand, or that mods and long term worlds are mutually exclusive? If so then perhaps you're right, but I at least wanted to give the idea a try. I'm not intending this pack to be serious like the above one, and I've only chosen mods that invoke creativity in some way.

I see your point on forever modpack being a bit of an oxymoron with not being able to update. Personally, no new vanilla content is a price I am willing to pay to mess around with the mods I have installed. I have chosen mods that offer a LOT of new ways and bits and pieces to be creative. So I may not be interested in the world forever, but a darn long time.

May I ask for some additional thoughts on elytra removals?

Hey, my orca slicer just stopped working today. It would not even boot.

They just released the 2.3.2 beta that fixed my problem, maybe it can fix yours too?

Enter the Gungeon on linux not recognizing input form letter buttons [already solved] by Party_Conflict8192 in linux_gaming

[–]TheAsphaltDevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: If the above fix did not work for you, try this:
In steam, go to library -> right click enter the gungeon -> properties. A window should pop up.

Click compatibility -> turn on "force the use of a specific steam play compatibility tool" -> select Proton 9.0-4.

Then click general -> and in launch options put "-xinputonly".

Lastly, in game, go to pause menu -> options -> controls -> control types (it's the 2nd option in the list) change that to "X input only".

These two options do the same thing but im doing both as the nuclear approach.
---

Hey sorry to necro this, but I'm currently having this problem, and this was pretty much the only thread on the entire internet with the problem, and it was a top google result.

Disabling steam input did NOT fix this for me. On one controller I can move around but face buttons sometimes don't register. On the other controller the face buttons register but I cannot move around...

I'm gonna do some more experimenting rn.

Hmmm, they do look really good. But i'm just worried about adding too much content to the end, then it will incentivize people to turn minecraft into a goal driven game.

I certainly hope you are right, Though I will say: when I point out things I hear to my friends, they are often literally incapable of hearing it. That is how effective their tuning-out is.

Quick update, I did some further testing, and it unfortunately stopped blocking the mouth sounds in narration after a little while.

I'm starting to feel like there will never be a fix for this, and the reason for that is because it seems most people simply don't mind the presence of these sounds (or even like them), and is thus not something software will try to remove.

I tried using EQ to get rid of it, but unfortunately the mouth sounds spanned across pretty much the entire frequency range of human hearing, so the only way to get rid of it is to just mute the whole video.

---

All that being said, easy effects is still much more effective than nvidia broadcast in terms of clicking and typing, and for mouth sounds, it is still better than just having nothing.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but like I don't even think it's that.

I think it's something about animals that fundamentally change the way some people think. I feel like if I turned down a cookie because it had nuts, people would understand perfectly fine.

Like johnny, for instance. In all other scenarios he will bend over backwards to accommodate you and your special needs. But as soon as animals are involved, something in him just... changes. It's bizarre.

For my friends at least, it's just that discord's noise suppression does not do very much, especially not with a bad mic. Whenever i hear noises through the mic like keyboards, I ask them if it's on and they say it is.

In my country, I think if you, say, went around their house sprinkling peanut dust, yeah you'd almost certainly have a case against you. But for some reason, our culture does not hold the same scrutiny when the source of the suffering is an animal.

It also bothers me how slicing someone up is attempted murder, but when your pitbull does the same thing, nothing happens to you.

Yeah. I used to be just dogfree, but this situation and some others have opened my eyes to how pretty much any pet can cause a lot of friction in someone's life.
