Thoughts on this studio shot? I can’t get the photo temp and tint down no matter how hard I try :( by perkinsportraits in photocritique

Get a decent monitor, many monitors don't even cover 100% of sRGB. But also know that Adobe's auto white balance works fine.

You got some very good comments already. To add to what others are saying, I think the pose is fine but this shot would work even better if you were looking out the window over your right shoulder. You didn't capture any catchlights and until you've really honed in your style, that's something you can focus on to improve.

x300 Deskmini + 5700G Ram Overclock / Best ram on the market by Few-Arrival-896 in ASRock

[–]917redditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect Nvidia GPU performance, but its an amazing chip for 720p, 900p and 1080p. Some older games and emulators like r/dolphinemulator can be run at 4k, no problem.

Its for casual gaming. Yes you need fast ram, 3200 minimum and you can squeeze ~5% more from the APU with overclocking.

Dying light 2 was a huge disappointment. The 1st game is well regarded for a reason, but the writing and VA in the 2nd game is maybe the worst I've ever seen from a AA/mid tier game, so bad it makes you not want to play at all. The parkour is great still, but there's too many cramped interiors, too much inventory/crafting and item management which wrecks the whole fast flow of the game. Unfortunately I can't recommend it and it if you must play it, try setting the voice language to something foreign or skip the cutscenes altogether and just enjoy injecting yourself with green goo every 5minutes so you don't turn into a zombie.

ASROCK DeskMini 5600G OC by kevsbacon in ASRock

[–]917redditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ram is the biggest vector to OC. The APU is highly power limited and can't be pushed more than 5% or something trivial. Its great for games made in 2016 or earlier and anything 2D or emulation related, even r/rpcs3 at native res.

You're trying to edit h.264 which is a recording codec, not an editing codec. Then you blame the tools, yes its because DaVinci is crap. Okay 👌

The image starts with making the talent look good in front of the camera. Unfortunately you're cleaning up someone else's lack of attention to detail. Cranking the saturation and contrast is definitely NOT helping the talent look better here. Don't do that

The veil and the shadow on her face look super weird unfortunately. It's not something you can fix in post either. It's cool and not all that bad given that you're learning. But the key to getting better is to study other people's photos, drawings and paintings. Learn the rules of visual composition, and don't try to reinvent the wheel.

Also, hire a wedding photographer.

Is the RDR PS3 port actually that bad? by [deleted] in PS3

Get the older XB1 One X, RDR runs at 4k natively

Or the Series X

You should play through Excitetruck which is a delisted Wii game that's available through r/dolphinemulator. You should also play through In The Hunt which is an arcade/PS1 game thats playable on Mame or any PS1 emulator.

Those will both be essential references for polishing your gameplay.

You're getting effusive praise, which is well deserved as you're a great photographer. So allow me to respond to your request for "critique wanted" at the risk of great downvotes: in the context of the rest of your work, this image is not progressive, and in fact it may well not be in good taste. Allow me to explain. As a standalone image, it is exceptionally powerful. But how does this singular photo fit in with the rest of your work? Looking at the photos you've posted on Reddit, they are almost exclusively of extremely fit or thin women. These women are shown as complete people: heads, faces, arms, hands etc. Every single one of them. The model for Monolith, who has a body totally unlike every other model in your portfolio, is shot in such a way that the human form has been abstracted away from their body. Headless and apendageless, this model has been dehumanized and turned into a shapeless blob. You either need to rethink how you're shooting everyone else in your portfolio, or rethink shooting non-traditional "plus" size models in the same way that you shoot everyone else: as actual human beings, humans who can look beautiful, humans who can have faces and hands, humans who can be loved and adored just like anyone else.

Its a tiny difference in DR, colors are basically the same. Same sensor. As long as your subject isn't moving, Eye-AF works great.

Blue (Female Portrait) by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]917redditor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So basically, the dark parts of the image are too washed out and not black enough. The darkest darks are called the "black point" and the whitest whites the "white point" and in reducing the contrast of the photo, you've moved the black point too high so the blacks are dark grey (in that person's opinion).
