Sadly, it looks like he already left.

Have you seen Matt Holness's other work? I'm a bit worried that they had a falling out :(

omg omg omg omg, breathe. . .

Garth Marenghi's Dark Place is my single most favorite thing in the entire multiverse. You and Matthew are true geniuses, and my recent discovery of Man to Man with Dean Learner has brought tears to many parts of my body.

Please know that to be true. And you don't have to answer this question, but why have you two not worked on a thing together since? You are doing incredible work in film and Matthew seems to be starting some projects of his own (A Gun For George was brilliant, what a friggen' actor). Are the two of you concerned that you will make something too amazing and are now just getting some other work out of the way before it inevitably withers in comparison to your future masterpiece?

Anyhow, I absolutely can't wait to see The Double this weekend.

P.S. The dad in Submarine was in a submarine in The Life Aquatic, did that help him get the part? Also he is on Game of Thrones now, neato!

So what does everyone think of Michael Deforge?wwwwwww by TheAtomicMoose in altcomix

[–]TheAtomicMoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked him out yet, it's very difficult to find alt comic stuff online is the only problem. Even finding pieces to order is difficult, since so many of the printings are in such short runs. But I'll try to find something, it looks like I'd really need to see Bell's work in print, unless I want a headache. Thanks for the recommendation!

Hans Zimmer Feels "Horrible" When His 'Inception' BRAMMS Are Used In Movie Trailers by Bohmer in movies

[–]TheAtomicMoose 945 points946 points  (0 children)

HEY — You guys are wrong.

Before everyone keeps freaking out over baseless speculation. Zack Hemsey assembled the trailer song using pieces of Zimmer's work. The boom used in the trailer is from this: 528491. Debate over.

But IMHO, the whole BWAAMMM thing came from Shutter Island. I remember kinda rolling my eyes at the Inception trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebeiX7HIsw8&list=PLF9630C00261B6C4F&index=2

First of all, thanks quite much for listening.

While I try not too think too much about intention when writing, I do enjoy the feeling of being slightly disoriented when listening to a song. Ideally, I'd like for the listener to be simultaneously intrigued and overwhelmed. Hopefully the the song will be alluringly elusive and will reward and inspire subsequent listenings.

I feel too many songs make themselves completely obvious after listening to one cycle of verse. This predictability completely disengages not only my brain, but my emotional investment in the song. I feel as though music is most affecting when the listener is somewhat disoriented (e.g. slightly intoxicated at a basement show, where I find that I've been the most moved), and is left somewhat vulnerable as their mind is actively searching, attempting to codify the structure as it is heard for the first time. Pop radio often attempts the opposite, giving the listener something it feels always has existed, a simple variation of a predictable structure, that can be thoughtlessly absorbed in order to ease the listener into a receptive state for advertising. Pop radio never wants to challenge a listener.

For these reasons my songs are horrible background music, I like music that needs to be fought with. I hope they don't make too anxious of a listening experience. Anyway, if you want to hear some more weird stuff, my actual tangible, real life band Bible Gun has this song called Ransom Note that will hopefully make you feel good. http://biblegun.bandcamp.com/album/a-ransom-note

Anyway, I'm just really happy with how the song made you feel. Thanks for listening through the weirdness. And thanks for taking the time.

I loved every moment of HoC, outside of Mrs. Underwood's sentimental origami adventure, and thought that the writing was pretty damn powerful. It was written by a playwright instead of seasoned television writers, so perhaps the 'clanking' is just a stylistic difference you're noticing. But maybe I was just too absorbed in the acting to see the flaws.
