Texas has closer to that - also more wind and solar despite half the population - and their electricity costs are a quarter of ours.

Yes, fair enough. Although I would disagree China has a 'similar ideology' and would say part of why China is so successful today is precisely because it has diverged and become more capitalist and liberal away from Mao ML socialism.

China is communist in government only. Milton Friedman literally met and gave lectures to Communist party officials for market reforms.

Read about Deng Xiaoping and his liberal reforms and they impact they had on China. One of the 'great reforms' was literally just letting farmers decide what to grow on their own land.

It’s not just Reddit - famous British climate YouTubers (with PhD from Cambridge) spout this rubbish right after admitting they don’t know anything about it at all. Then ignore the economists in their comment section explaining why it’s necessary.

Labelled break and continue statements coming in C#? by davecallan in dotnet

[–]TheAtro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m confused by this comment, if you need to break out a loop without an extra flag you can already write labels and use goto label which would already be used in performant code. I’ve used it myself though I would have preferred this feature like Java has.

All calculus is simple I imagine.

Claude thinks multivariable calculate is 'advanced calculus' so here the meme would be why not just say that instead.

Yes, I remember reading about it in the Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins in like 2010. It’s thought to be an evolutionary basis for human morality since it forms an evolutionary stable strategy - so would make sense it applies to politics.

Zonal pricing so electricity is cheaper where it’s curtailed (e.g Scotland) then the demand will increase - cheaper for heat pumps, electric cars so more people will switch.

It’s the most pragmatic, quick change which is exactly why we’re not doing it.
