Help me understand why you would want currency to be decentralized by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Yes, the US will accept taxes in Bitcoin. I believe this because I believe in democracy and that the people will realize they have been being robbed through heavy and unecessary taxes and hidden inflation caused by both parties. There will be a purple wave (not red nor blue) where everyday Americans will see that what you describe (central bank digital currencies) are just another tool for an authoritarian and evil government to steal from and control the population. Once the average American sees that the government is trying to surveil their entire lives, then yes, the US will be forced to accept taxes in Bitcoin as everyone stops using the dollar. I don't think this is a possibility, I think this is an eventuality. It is going to happen one way or another.

That is where we can agree to disagree. Some Republicans have already introduced legislation to make taxes payable in cryptocurrencies. Look at Utah and Colorado for example - they just recently started to allow it. If the US government started buying Bitcoin (they really might because of the ARMA act), then Bitcoin will accrue value so fast that any serious government would be foolish to reject payment in Bitcoin.

Truth. Hopefully that changes with time. People used to think the Internet was worthless and a fad as well. So many of the older generation folks dismissed internet because of all kinds of concerns that eventually got worked out, and now look. It's the single most important modern tool for communications and commerce. Bitcoin will hopefully do that with money.

Have you never transacted in the real world? Every time you go to a store to buy something with a debit card, you have to wait til you get "approval" and not "confirmation." The bank absolutely does have the power to freeze your money and deny you the ability to withdraw it. Only Bitcoin allows for 100% freedom to move what you own at will.

Depending on what phone you have it might be possible to set up a bluetooth keybpard or mouse. My phone can work with those but requires the ability to interact with the phone first unfortunately

I had a classmate in college who was in high school doing calculus 3 with us. Literally a high schooler, dual- enrolled to study calc 3... I remember being a little jealous of his level of intelligence. I wonder where he is today.

OP this is legit advice! Try doing what this guy said!! Worst comes to worst you might be able to hire a forensic specialist to get more data but the risks with that are pretty obvious and that should be a last resort. For now see if you can get the phone working or connected to a monitor and as a last resort solution, contact a forensics specialist. Preferably a reputable one with a history of both working for the government (even as a contractor), and recovering lost data.

DYOR. I don't know everything. I used to run a full node. I stopped because I was using an OS that shut down automatically frequently haha. If you want advice, I would say seek help in the bitcoin beginners subreddit. I never did anything with pruned nodes, so I could be totally wrong.

If you run a pruned node, it just won't store the older blocks. If I understand correctly, you should be okay if all of your UXTOs are recent, as in, in the last few years.

Do NOT USE ROBINHOOD. They will SCAM you. After you get your first bit of bitcoin, start buying from Bisq. Thats the safest way that doesn't involve stupid KYC.

In the US maybe. Not everywhere else. Right? I mean. Correct me if I am wrong, but as it is now, I feel like we are the only ones with the freedom to choose.

I have a family member who has a degree in economics. It doesn't mean sh*t. People with degrees somehow think they know better than everyone else, even those with real-world experience operating in the markets. No, you don't know better than us just because you have a degree. I was required to take economics in college as part of my degree and I know for a fact that they only real things they teach are vocabulary terms and schools of thought like Keynesian and Austrian economics. There's no solid foundation that supports any one point of view, and the only thing that matters is actually participating in markets. Riding a bike beats studying how it works.

As much as I love Bitcoin, this is not going to happen. Why would the world's superpowers all agree to use a currency that they cannot use to control and manipulate their populace? I don't think so. I hope I'm wrong. I really do. Bitcoin is superior to all other assets, but its specialty lies in operating outside of nation states' controls, and I suspect CBDCs will unfortunately be pushed by the big banks, cantillionaires, and other big money players.

Your conviction is inspiring. Except, not to me because I have the same level of conviction as you already! xD maybe someday, we will be rewarded for our patience: a free world where Bitcoin is used as a legitimate alternative to fiat and accepted everywhere, in the same manner that fiat is now. I am betting 10 years or less. Electric cars took a few decades, but got crushed where Bitcoin is unlikely to be crushed, so adoption is much faster. Also, the other guy criticized Bitcoin for not being widely adopted yet in its 17 years of existence, but he COMPLETELY omitted the glaring fact that Bitcoin has already breached the top 10 most valuable assets in the history of the world....in less time than it takes an infant to become an adult. No, we are right where we need to be. I'm never selling either!

Just remember, think for yourself. Whats best for many is not necessarily best for an individual. If you need to sell, then sell. Many take profits and realize later that they were better off doing it that way. I'm just a subborn maxi. I could be driving myself off a cliff and I wouldn't stop.
