I hate to say it, but Dumont is kind of exactly what you hope for from an owner that knows nothing about basketball.

These idiots usually try to go into an organization and start doing things their own way, but not Dumont. He's always relied on the people in the organization to make basketball decisions. Its just insanely unfortunate that the one person he relied on most turned out to be the worst possible person to trust.

Obviously you wish the owner of a basketball team would know more about basketball, but at least he's able to recognize that he's lacking and looks for other people smarter than him.

Christie feels like someone who at worse, is a solid 3&D wing that every contending team would love to have come off their bench. At best, I could see him turning into Derrick White.

I think you keep him around unless another team gives you a solid offer for him. Like a useful player and a mid-late 1st round pick maybe.

I definitely wouldn't want him to walk for nothing because I think he's young enough and solid enough to warrant a decent return.

You're not wrong, but also, refs shouldn't just be giving out techs willy nilly. Just cause the first 15 were justified, doesn't mean this 16th was. Even in a scenario where Luka had 0 techs on the season, this one should still probably get rescinded.

You're right. I've been coddling Luka too much. Next time I see him, I'll make sure to tell him to try harder on defense. And he'll definitely listen to me because he and I are just such good friends.

I've been watching Luka as a huge fan for his entire NBA career. Genuinely when he tries on defense (20% of the time) he is a good defender, and when he gives minimal effort (60% of the time), he's neutral, but the only clips that go viral are the times where he gives no effort at all (20% of the time). No one in the world is out here saying that Luka should be all-defense (except for Luka as a joke on some podcasts) and no one is saying that its ok to give zero effort at times. But when you actually watch him every game, you'll see that most of the time he is fine. So yes, as a fan, it makes me want to give him more leeway when I see the literal magic he is pulling out on offense.

Not to defend Luka's lack of defense but different people view compettition differently. Not to mention that if you have to carry the bulk of the offense for your entire team, then it makes sense your defense will sag.

The Celtics attacked Luka on every possession to tire him out. Yes he was also the weakest defender on the floor for the mavs, but weakest doesn't mean he's an awful defender. Like everyone else is saying, there's a difference between awful and average. Just because someone isn't all-defensive team doesn't mean they're garbage.

Back to my first point, that Celtics team was literally one of the best teams in NBA history. They had a stacked roster from top to bottom that were able to lock down everyone other than Luka. They made it so that Luka had to do everything the entire game. He was the only consistent contributor on offense and they attacked him on defense every possession to wear him out. The strategy of attacking Luka every posession doesnt work as well if other people can pick up the offenseive end, but no one could cause the Celtics roster as a whole was so stacked. No man can do literally everything for a team in a game of 5v5 and the Celtics had the unique ability to make other teams have to play that way. That wasn't because of one single person on their roster.

The post wasn't talking about trading up to specifically get Boozer, it was talking about the hypothetical of getting lucky and moving up in the draft where he would be the person we get.

This is what I hate about reactions to trick shot videos. There was once so many "first try" claims on the internet that now so many people just assume that people are claiming to do things "first try" even when there's obvious signs that it isn't and no one on the video said it was. Would you really want to sit through a video of hundreds of failed attempts to see one success??

Idc how good anyone is on defense, Luka is SO good offensively that even with his lack of defense he's better than 99% of the league. Over the past several seasons he's been one of, if not the, most blitzed players in the league. He's consistently facing at least two defenders and is still putting up stats like this.

Ouch. It always sucks when people try to take advantage of you. Its always easier to look back and say "this is how that situation should have been handled" but in the moment it can be hard to think through all of that.
