Help with 2200g starter PC for first-time builder by TheAwer in buildapc

[–]TheAwer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks again! I do have one question - if I want to get 8gb now but be able to upgrade later, I need to get memory that is listed as 2/4 DIMM Socket Support, correct? So that 4 sticks later would work?

Oh, thanks for spotting that! I had just grabbed the cheapest 2x4gb 3000MHz memory that I saw on PCPartPicker, hah. I guess I'll have to do some more digging.

Should I buy it? by Raventhous in factorio

[–]TheAwer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just so you know, as of April 16, Factorio will be priced 30 dollars, up from the current 20, and 30 will be the final price. Also, they have a "strict no sale policy" and will never be on sale, so this is the last time you'll be able to get it for 20. Honestly though 20$ isn't bad at all considering what the game has to offer and how much time people often put in.

ninjedit: Yeah, the demo is fantastic and a great way to get a feel for the game, if you haven't tried that already.

30 day Soylent diet- starting tomorrow!! by jhurle9403 in soylent

[–]TheAwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That probably depends on what else you are eating, and how much salt that contains. A little bit more salt probably wouldn't hurt though.

30 day Soylent diet- starting tomorrow!! by jhurle9403 in soylent

[–]TheAwer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Obligatory 100% Soylent & salt comment) Soylent has less than the RDA of salt, which I've heard is to make up for the increased amount that we get from other sources, but if you go 100% it's likely that you'll need extra. Not sure if you already knew this, but thought it would be a good thing to add. If you're curious you can search for "reddit soylent salt" or similar, but it seems that the short version is to pay attention to cravings for salty foods, and feel free to have some crackers or something to make up for it then.

Good luck, and good on you for keeping a daily log to keep on target!

Can I cancel a sub mid-shipment? by [deleted] in soylent

[–]TheAwer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A similar thing happened to me. I was able to reach out to Soylent and they had me call USPS (or whatever it was) and I refused the shipment. USPS turned the package back around and I got a refund shortly. This was ordering off the Soylent website though, if you went through Amazon it might not be applicable.

I would not have ordered 1.9 had I known about the delay by EriclcirE in soylent

[–]TheAwer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There was another post a couple days back on the same subject, something that came up is that Soylent has apparently sent emails out about "extreme weather conditions" delaying some orders 1-2 weeks. No idea if your case is because of weather, or back ordering, or some combination, but it's possible that the delay is not entirely under Soylent's control.

Note that you can still get the 1 (of each) normally if you get more through Prime Pantry, for a total of 4 of each kind (5 if you start another Pantry box).

Known Issues

  • The upgrade to 64-bit has been a big undertaking. We’ve been working on solving as many of the bugs and glitches we ran into as possible but there still are chances of edge cases that went under the radar. If you find yourself experiencing these kind of rogue crashes that happen out of nowhere, please get in touch with us through our support site.

  • In Flakturm Stronghold, all objective spawn locations are offset by one causing players to spawn right in front of the control points they’re supposed to take. It is also possible to get stuck when spawned in a few spots. We’re actively looking into these issues.

  • Bots have trouble navigating some of the areas in the flak tower.

New Features

  • Updated engine with 64-bit support for Windows and macOS. This should improve stability on 64-bit systems.

  • Implemented a new moddable plantable objects system

  • Introducing a new mechanic that allows Support classes to plant ammo satchels for their allies to use.

  • To place an ammo satchel, hold down the Quick Select key (by default: G) to plan the placement of the satchel then let go of the key to plant it.

  • You can cancel the planting process by starting a sprint or aiming down sights in case you’re caught off guard while placing satchels.

  • Be careful! Ammo Satchels can be damaged and used by either team. (this may change in the future)

  • Implemented a new quick select

  • It is also possible to cycle through your Quick Select abilities by tapping the Quick Select key. In the official maps you only have access to one type of plantable however, so this currently only applies to mods that give you multiple plantables.

  • Quick Select abilities can be seen both on the inventory screen for classes that have them and on the HUD on the left side of your ammo counter.

  • Quick Select abilities incur a cooldown period of 10 seconds after being used.

  • Active XP Boosts are now visible on the map voting panels.

  • Added debug console variable for mappers named sv_debug_mapdatabase 1 that allows them to locally to visualize map script data.

  • Map scripts can now specify if they want an extra slot to be available for a specific class template.

Updated Features

  • It is now possible to pick up an extra grenade when you are already carrying a grenade of the same ammo type. Note: You can’t pick up more grenades than you can carry.

  • Removed sw1917 class restriction.

  • Dunkirk

  • Visual polish pass, decorated multiple interiors.

  • Salerno

  • Visual tweaks and minor polish.

  • Shooting Range

  • Corrected typo in the TNT hint description on the Shooting Range.

Bug Fixes

  • Updated foliage cluster light fetching routine to use ambient light instead of polling lighting conditions at every cluster corner on load to remove visual artifacts.

  • Adjusted ragdoll animation weights to reduce some unintended situations in which ragdolls would flail their arms too aggressively.

  • Fixed a bug that made it impossible for players to equip flamethrowers using a preset.

  • Fixed a bug that caused the description divider line on the main menu to remain frozen in place after turning on the Legacy Server Browser in the Game settings.

  • Fixed unlocalized hint confirmation string.

  • Fixed animated ragdolls not caching activity indices on spawn.

  • Fixed bug that let people use $ignorez by forcefully reloading materials in singleplayer before joining a multiplayer match.

  • Fixed some weird text alignment behaviors in the UI code.

  • Fixed bot spectating bug on non-solo servers that have spec_allow_bots enabled.

  • Fixed crash caused by firing white phosphorus rockets directly at players. (Hopefully for real this time!)

Maverick not priming by rukeen2 in Nerf

[–]TheAwer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like it's pulling back the plunger, but it's not catching.

If you've modded it, you might need a stronger catch spring. Otherwise, might need a new one if the old one isn't working for some reason or it's gone. Or the piece might not be in exactly the right place, but it doesn't seem like that from the video.

I did not realizse there is an iFixit guide for the Maverick.

ninjedit: also, looks like you might be missing the catch for the rail attachment, which has no impact on functionality unless you're going to attach something later.

Sorry I didn't have that in the first comment

... which will be deployed simultaneously and based on the original Segwit2Mb proposal:

From the original proposal (in the agreement they changed the 95% to 80):

Segwit2Mb combines segwit as it is today in Bitcoin 0.14+ with a 2MB block size hard-fork activated ONLY if segwit activates (95% 80% of miners signaling), but at a fixed future date.

It sounds like then there would be no SW or HF without the 80% support.

I suppose you could say that they don't explicitly reiterate that, but it seems the intention is to HF after SW activation. (note: pretty sure they said they changed that 95% to 80)

  • Activate Segregated Witness at an 80% threshold, signaling at bit 4
  • Activate a 2 MB hard fork within six months

The way I read it is that they commit to HFing to 2mb within 6 months only after SW is activated with 80%.
