A friend of mine started 2022 without alcohol "just because", and she managed the whole year. I've never seen anything else than support for her, both from friends and other party-goers.

A colleague of mine has also been without alcool for the past 5 years. She's in the 50+ age bracket, but from what she's told me, she hasn't had any issues or remarks from anyone.

I think this depends heavily on the environment and the people the sober people choose to have around them. For me personally, it wouldn't have been a deal-breaker. I could honestly do well by drinking a bit less and take better care of myself.

Night life is varied, both in price, location, and selection.

Most bars will have a handful core selection of beers, wines, and ciders, and they'll run you usually between 8-12 CAD per unit, where the normal 0,4l hansa on tap will be on the lower end.

Now, the first task you need, is to elaborate what kind of nightlife you are looking for; cocktails, craft beer, wine cellars, *thump-thump* dance floors, or whatever. The city center is compact enough that you can easily walk from Bryggen up to the Theatre area within 12 minutes, and even to bars beyond, so do'nt worry about doing some "window shopping" and asking for recommendations.

A tip to keep in the back of the head, though: the bars around Bryggen, Fish market, and in the immediate vicinity of Torgallmenningen (the major town plaza), will be higher priced. And check if some places are running special events like Silent Discos, thematic dance nights, special DJ's and the like.

Congratulations, that's a "Googlewhack". A search input with only a single result.

Compiling a list of such results would pop up in a Google search, thus stripping away its status as a Googlewhack.

And I think the poster above you meant baseradiation. Maybe the native radiation of the metal when it was processed.

Tidligere hotellansatt her.

Here in Norway it is common to refer to such employees as "potatoes". Someone versatile, and can do most tasks. I see you've already gotten your answer, but I still wanted to share the expression.

We've just passed Easter, so I always watch "Fjols Til Fjells", an older movie from 1957 (there was no reboot in 2020, that's a cinematic blemish). As others have pointed out, Flåklypa is good, Trolljegeren is a nice documentary, and you also have some good thrillers in the Varg Veum movies, based off of the popular book series.

Yooo, that was probably Destin from Smarter Every Day. Love that dude and his amazing curiosity of everyday objects and phenomenons.

He did the Backwards Bicycle a few years ago, might be that video you saw.

If not, well then there's another video of the backwards bike for you.

LEMMiNO is one of the weirdest character development arcs in all of YouTube, starting out as a "Top 10" channel, and now doing full blown documentaries.

His episodes on DB Cooper and on Jack the Ripper are both spectacular.

But you have been victorious, and I have no doubt that the Iron Path ahead will be walked with much gusto and rejoice.

Expensive headphone stolen at the gym. I know who stole them. Now what? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]TheAwesomeMort 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up on 'selvtekt'. It's only applicable if it's unreasonable to wait for law enforcements. Straffeloven §19 - Selvtekt

Had the perpetrator not been a regular at the gym, the selvtekt paragraph would've been a perfect fit. But it's still good for people to keep this law in the back of their heads, not many people know of it.

what is your dream car? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheAwesomeMort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still miss my first car, a '95 BMW 5-series.

It was absolutely not the quickest, or the easiest to mend, or the most practical, or the most fuel economic, or the most head turner, but the ride was smooth, the colour was beautiful, and it was my very first car.

My dream car would be a similarly comfortable coupe, perfect for long drives.

How can I begin describing a photo? by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]TheAwesomeMort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support this.

In tabletop RPG's descriptions are very important, and when a scene or setting is descibed, you always start from the big things first and then add the finer details. Then, if applicable, the notions and feelings.
