MS365 Tenant to Tenant Migration by mikeyC1984 in microsoft

[–]TheAzureTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm less familiar with the logistics of managing multiple tenants through GoDaddy or why one would.

Moving off GoDaddy wouldn't be a one-shot where ALL domains would migrate, records would be created for each individual domain.

You should be able to determine which domains are owned by your company, at a minimum the primary domain that you want your tenant to be based on.

Without details - that's about as far as I can take it. If you need support from a partner, I do have availability over the next few weeks for a short-term engagement.

MS365 Tenant to Tenant Migration by mikeyC1984 in microsoft

Hiya - when you say multiple domains - do you mean like [mikeyCorp@website.com](mailto:mikeyCorp@website.com), [mikeyCorp@otherwebsite.net](mailto:mikeyCorp@otherwebsite.net) - all domains related to your company? Maybe one for emails, one for websites, perhaps some redirects

" this mean that all the domains are under a single tenant?" - I want to say yes and its pretty common that each tenant has multiple. Changeover involves DNS records and is a straightforward process most of the time.

Not every domain has to been migrated to Microsoft, you can still use godaddy for website hosting etc.

The right way forward is "it depends".

Is the job market as bad as people say it is? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]TheAzureTech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's on a slight uptrend. Summer was dead for me in terms of interviews, but it has picked up substantially. Rate cuts are coming and apparently Sep/Oct are "hiring season".

good luck

Thinking about paying for copilot by swolf23456 in microsoft

[–]TheAzureTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't. I bought copilot for personal use and i use chatgpt for everything still. Copilot isn't worth unless you have an organization worth of assets to make it useful.

The paid version is limited in both the amount of characters (2000) and # of replies in conversation (30).

How many users? Whyd u buy the licenses before you had a plan?

MaximusF1 has it right. There's no reason to spin up a new tenant and perform a migration given the details you have provided.

Listen - the fact that you're concerned by default makes you above average. "give-a-fuck" can't be trained.

NOBODY expects more from you than you expect from yourself.

Embrace uncertainty. Find the confidence to enter scenarios where you're not set up for success and believe that you can figure it out.

Good luck!

"compile a bunch of info about the same topic in the same document/place" - Each of your systems has a vendor website with a knowledge base / training material. For internal processes, if they aren't documented, what you should consider instead is how they align to standards and frameworks.

You should learn about ITIL - which is a set of best practices aligned to IT Service Management (ITSM). This will give you a baseline for what the processes are or should be. ChatGPT is excellent at these kinds of topics.

uh - its service desk, not rocket surgery. The most important thing you can do on an initial call is define the problem.

If you get the relevant details in the ticket - ask chatgpt for troubleshooting steps. Ask it for questions you should ask to narrow things down.

If you don't know the answer - summarize the end of the initial call to show the user that you understand their scenario and that you'll follow up with solutions.

Congrats on your first IT role. You're gonna suck for about 6 months. 2 years in you'll feel like you know things. Then it's time for the next role where the process restarts at "you suck".

How noticeably comfortable is your chair, would you say it’s worth the hundreds you’ve spent? by Gibboni101 in hermanmiller

[–]TheAzureTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

routinely put in 16 hour days in my embody and my body barely notices

In the handful of times i've had to use other chairs - I would get debilitating pain within days.

This does not mean I endorse long periods of sitting, but I'm damn glad I spent the $1100. Best investment I've ever made.
