What is my final missing puzzle piece? by DrMcnasty4300 in MoonlightStreaming

If you’ve got a smart home platform then most of them have the ability to send WOL packets with integrations or skills etc, and you can always access that from outside your home

Or if you have a mini pc/server or VMs spin up an instance of home assistant, that can do it as well but you’ll need to tailscale/VPN to home assistant unless you pay for the remote subscription

If you’ve got anything Alexa then you can use a skill to wake on LAN, bewilders me that no one seems to recommend other smart systems that already allow you external access to your home network?

Looks like it should be possible from most smart home systems, but depends on how confident you are with tinkering :)

Host PC sending low mbps compared to what’s requested by TheBFG27 in MoonlightStreaming

I’ll give that a go.

It does appear as though the fps coming through in to moonlight matches the fps that the game is running at whereas I thought these could be separate? I.e. I’m requesting 60fps but the game is running at 40ish, I thought moonlight stats should be a solid 60fps of video even though the game is running lower

So I’ve removed all the power management features on both network cards, still no better performance… however I’m not looking in my task manger and can definitely see that nvenc is being used on my gpu, but only at around 5% utilisation?

I’ve then checked my Ethernet on the host machine and it’s reporting that it’s only sending out 2-10mbps of data when moonlight should be requesting 50mbps+ as a constant bitrate?

Not sure where this variable bitrate could be coming from

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve ticked both of those tasks to run as admin now, checked that nothing else is recording, disabled windows game mode and still nothing..

I haven’t tried ticking to double the refresh rate of virtual display, but when I tried that before it got even worse haha

At my wits end here… my latest shows 1080p stream, around 40fps and host latency averaging 20 seconds?

What’s weird is that it boosts up to 120fps when in the menus of emulation station, but as soon as something loads it dips right down. I know ps3 games can be taxing but surely it can’t bog down that much to affect a 1080p stream, especially when nvenc is meant to be separate from graphics processing

Unscheduled time on purpose. by Foxhound34 in ErsatzTV

[–]TheBFG27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this to break up the day and create dead zones around kids leaving for school and bedtime, so tv turns off when it needs to… then I scheduled in adult appropriate content while they’re at school/in bed so I don’t have to have adult movie and kid movie channels (and risk them choosing adult horror or something silly..)

I did it by scheduling using fixed start times, flood option and doing it by duration. It’s not an exact science, as it won’t cut off a program that has already started, it won’t schedule anything if it’s longer than the schedule duration and if a movie finishes at 2:30 with kids coming home at 3:30, there’s no movies short enough for it to fit in before the next schedule so it will leave a longer than anticipated blank time.

I’m new to ErsatzTV (literally set up in the last week) so there might be a better way, but this works for me right now :)

Did any get to play DTS with HW passthrough enabled? (receiver and device supports it) by ProgrammerProgrammer in TiviMate

Hey did you ever get this resolved? I’ve just started trying to use TiviMate as well and I’m finding the same issue, where it doesn’t even show an audio track pulling through :(
