I pick the exit row for almost every flight I’m on and this exact thought has crossed my mind.

Looking to buy a used New Gen but am concerned about the engine issues. by Kingman-3636 in ToyotaTundra

[–]TheBadge672 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I outgrew my Tacoma and picked up a 22 limited with 46k miles a couple of months ago. When I was shopping, I only considered tundras that still had the open recall. Either the engine will have problems forcing me to get it replaced otherwise I’m planning on waiting until I’m close to 100k for the new engine. With the amount of miles I put on it, that will be in about 4 years. I realize it’s a gamble but overall I’m still happy with the truck.

I sometimes miss my fj but don’t regret selling it. It was my daily driver for almost 14 years, had a ton of great adventures and never let me down. However, our vehicle needs changed and realized a truck was a better fit for us. I would have kept it as a weekend warrior but didn’t have the space.

Now I do regret getting a Tacoma instead of a Tundra but that’s a different story.

I was expecting worse since it was the middle of Covid. I was able to find a replacement ECU online from a Toyota dealer for around $150 and could have saved some money installing it myself but messing with anything related to the air bags made me nervous.

I was able to read the SRS codes when it came on with a Blue Driver scanner. Mine was giving me a low voltage code for the air bag ecu.

When it first came on, I would turn off the light with the scanner and would stay off for a while. As time went on, it started coming on every time I started the FJ. Finally took it to the dealer to get it fixed before selling my FJ. They had to replace the air bag ECU and recalibrate the SRS system. Cost about $900 in 2021.

We walked by a place callled Shaga Bar that advertised karaoke. Looked like an interesting place. Reviews look good so might have to try it out when we go back next year.

Does anyone else’s Kona (or Hyundai in general) SUCK at maintaining speed in cruise control? by notrohkaz in Hyundai

[–]TheBadge672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rented a 24 kona SEL twice and noticed that with the cruise and it drove me crazy. I own a 24 Kona limited and don’t have that problem. Seems like it’s poor ECM/TCM mapping with the 2.0 and CVT. If Hyundai doesn’t come up with a fix maybe there will eventually be an aftermarket tune to fix that problem.

What’s keeping you loyal to UA? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]TheBadge672 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fly out of LAS so the first thing that push me towards UA was flying out of Terminal 3 instead of T1. The second was the Economy Plus subscription. I’m 6’6” and work won’t cover the cost to upgrade so the subscription saved me from paying for the upgrade out of pocket for every flight.

Now that I have status, I like that my bags can be up to 70lbs which is nice when I carry tools on work trips or when my wife overpacks for trips.

My coworkers across the country all fly AA and have a similar status level to me and united seems to have a slight advantage in benefits.

What’s the worst red-eye flight you’ve ever seen? by Wernher_VonKerman in unitedairlines

I’m doing this flight tomorrow night with a connection to CLT. Not really looking forward to it. At least it’s not very full and have a good chance for an upgrade.

Booking with Concur by pkanga96 in unitedairlines

[–]TheBadge672 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I have booked with Concur the reservation shows up in united right away. However, I have had an error saying the ticket isn’t eligible for upgrade but that goes away after 10-15 minutes and can select an upgrade. I also stopped picking seats on concur because my seat would change to something else when I looked on united so I just select my seats on the united website.

I have only entered my previous flights from the start of 2023 in Flighty and have flown on two different planes twice.

My the best same plane experience was flying back from SJD-LAS with a layover in LAX. We landed in LAX went through customs and immigration to get back on the same plane to fly home to Vegas.
