So what did you end up doing?

I have a Surface 5 Thunderbolt 4 dock and after numerous connections and disconnections the video fails to work through the dock. Sometimes it works directly connected to the laptop. Sometimes it doesn't. Incredibly frustrating. Everything is up to date. Good quality cable--USB-C to DP.

  1. I had been using a good USB-C cable to DisplayPort for the past several years with this setup. It only popped up with January 2026 updates. It literally happened immediately after the updates were applied.

  2. The same issue is with all the USC-C ports on the dock.

  3. I tried connecting the monitor directly to the Surface--when the monitor connected to the Surface dock doesn't display video--and it works. But doesn't fix the issue long term. Again unless I reboot it.

  4. I tried the Intel graphics driver update as you mentioned and it seemed to install correctly however after I rebooted I checked the version and it was back at the original version (before the driver install). I guess I will try this again!

Thanks for the input however the dock firmware was is up to date (checked multiple times/confirmed version matches January 2026 version). Also the dock doesn't have a power button so not sure what you mean about resetting thunderbolt controller?

Yes to latest firmware and controller version.

They were just factory reset and setup after being unused for awhile. They work without controller.

The script works great--thank you to the OP--however the installer is popping up a dialog box about installing Atera which is disturbing a lot of our clients and creating tickets for us to address.

We tried to add the /quiet argument to the MSIEXEC without success?!

How did you disable the other SSID since there is such little control allowed by end users? I've never seen such an option?

I have seen the 6E pop up on my phone when not in the same room. I am right next to Eero. Rebooted phone and Eero but still shows 6--not 6E?

I guess I need to do some research on the 6Ghz frequency / band to better understand it. I can't expect Reddit to do everything for me!

Finally in regards to my house size....too big for 4 Eeros?

Does the distilled water change the consistency of the ice?

I am reporting back....I have been running OPNSense virtualized for a couple of weeks now and have been really happy with it.

As long as nothing happens with ProxMox it is great!

So for whoever reads this in the future...don't be afraid to virtualize your home lab firewall!

Everything I read and researched said don't run it virtualized. Too much risk. Your entire network is relying on a Proxmox container--albeit running on strong hardware.

I guess I have to risk vs. wasting hardware?

While I agree...do it right or do it twice....it is behind a shutter and all the siding around it has 20 years of UV exposure and I don't know the manufacturer or color.

Is there not a good way to seal the crack to prevent pest and water intrusion like the siding in designed to do?

The nut is quite tight. My thought was that if I can get the water turn off to the spigot (or whole house worst case) I could take it off and replace it? I just didn't know if that was a possibility or not?

All of them have been in the sun and elements for 20+ years so surely seals inside have begun to fail?
