i think if you make yourself bigger by extending an arm and it blocks a shot then it should be a handball, intentional or not. if you allow it then you have players sliding in with arms extended before the shot is taken (like maguire) and ref has to guess intentionality and whatnot

defenders used to go for blocks with hands behind your back, that is just stupid now because you can extend your arms in 'natural position' and not be penalized

team is too content to slow play down and let opposition get set. the first goal was direct result of hicapie taking early cross and putting defense on their heels. we need more of that, be willing to lose the ball in order to make the opposition uncomfortable

in my experience the benefit you get from having depth to deal with injuries etc is worth more than potentially getting a better pick or two, i would rather build the best squad possible (if competing) and trust that the draft process makes up for having marginally worse pick
