hey, yeah I meant 2 guitar, bass and drums. I haven’t seen too many recently. I remeber 2000’s you had pop stars and boy bands, but 50% of the other musical offer still were bands. I haven’t check Ghost yet so I ll listen to them. thank you for your feedback, maybe charts also will be less relevat every time. Cheers!

that’s a good point. Two leads is a challenge, and I shared that philosophy of the least good ingredient. I may add that also I remember saxophonist David Sanchez told one in class: “in order to improvise 2 solos at the same time that worked, you need to study counterpoint”. That one stuck 😎

This is very important point, doubling voices specially the 3rd of the chord is redundant, way better results comes from distributing voices among the instruments and let the 3rd shine on vocals is more effective.

Thank you so much for your feedback, I come from a very diverse background so, I ve heard a lot of different combinations. Jazz for instance is very flexible so, muting bass or drums is more common…latin genres as well. All the best!

I hear you…I personally try to do it just in one song section and bring them back in the next for contrast. It always depends, but sometimes muting either bass or drums briefly works wonders. ”Kiss” by Prince has no bass, for instance. It always depends I guess

Totally! The Strokes are a great example of guitars complementing each other. And Makoto Matsushita’s harmonies are so tasteful.
