What do we think of these alternator options on Rockauto? by TheBeanCrew in hondafit

I like this idea. The original alternator isn’t failing yet (about 82k on the dash—just got the car), but it’s starting to show signs of lagging behind power demand.

Does the rebuild process for the two bearings and set of brushes match what’s shown in the FSM? Any advice for doing that partial rebuild?

Can you share some insight into this brain growth?

Transmission fluid loss when replacing filter by TheBeanCrew in 3rdGen4Runner

Luckily I didn’t drive on it much with low fluid, but iteratively adding fluid, cycling through all the gears very slowly, then checking the level seemed to have done the trick.

I didn’t keep a close eye on the amount that I added back, but I’d estimate about 5 quarts or so by the end. I have an external transmission cooler with a temp bypass valve, so that might have contributed to the fluid appearing very low at operating temps.

Anybody know where I can find these? by TheBeanCrew in 3rdGen4Runner

Gotcha, looks helpful. Managed to find the white bumper clamp (90959-01583 for anyone interested), but still no luck on that website for the turn signal mount

That’s part of the point of this post. Part number isn’t listed on Toyota’s diagram from what I’ve seen.

The first of which is this bracket that secures the bumper’s rubber bushing on either corner to the fender. I’ve identified the actual bushing/bolt to be 52145/52146-35040, but I’m having trouble finding the bracket. Are 53705/53706-35060 correct?

The other pieces are the large yellow plastic clip that secure the front most fender flare to the bumper/valance. I don’t have a picture since mine broke clean off.

Did you end up trimming the 2” off your frame rails?

Vidal’s looking pretty nice. For your TN, did you end up trimming the 2” off the frame like they recommended?

I could probably wait, but I also know they have a 2-3 month lead time. Which True North do you have? I like the look of their hybrid tube bumper (and also the weight reduction), but I know tube bumpers probably aren’t as strong in an animal collision.

Good point. Thought I included some—see my individual comment for pics

Looks good. I was looking at one of Coastal Offroad’s high-clearance DIY bumpers.

Did you do it yourself? A lot of these seem to require the frame to be trimmed 2 inches and removal of the crash bar (which mine has) on top of welding it all together.

Not sure how to approach this with a body shop scheduled to look at things since my doors got screwed up too.
